Could Do With Some More Service

My wife and I, together with our dog, have just got back from renting a cottage in Padstow for a week. Here is a little oasis of calm in a busy little seaside town. Excellent beers & great service. Full of locals & great for the banter. Will certainly visit again!

This Pub is more locals than visitors unlike the Shipwrights by the Harbour. Couple of chairs to sit outside but that's all. However great place to listen to local banter in Cornish drawl, friendly landlord who serves up excellent beer. I would try the heavily hopped Proper Job .

We visited this pub for a quick lunch, we chose this pub because it allowed dogs ( most do in Cornwall) it is a old authentic Cornish pub. We sat up on a decked area at the rear of the pub up some very steep stairs, drinks ordered we proceeded to order food, the burgers sounded good and we ordered... More

Nice, slightly Bach street pub. Good home cooked food and excellent choice of beers. Very friendly and welcoming regulars!

I made the mistake of choosing this pub for dinner on my first night in Padstow, but needless to say I never returned. I ordered the steak pie with mash and waited and waited. The landlady came and apologised for the delay saying the fryer was not working. When I pointed out I had ordered the mash she looked confused... More

I thought the menu looked good and decided to return later that evening. I walked in to ask if you could take your dog as most places were ok with this . The owners were sitting on a table with some locals. Ignored me standing at the bar. Ignored me fullstop. So i wont be going back!

A real pub with an interesting atmosphere but the food is awful. We only went because there were mussels on the menu but they were dry, small over cooked and tasteless. The fish medley was similar - almost inedible. As an advert for Padstow food it was terrible. By all means go for the beer and the interesting experience of... More

Best fish and chips I've ever had! Lovely old, traditional pub with local ales and cozy rooms. I had the hake and chips, amazing! Super thick fish with thin, crisp batter and gorgeous chips. Good job we had a mile long walk back to our caravan or the weight gain from our holiday may well have been significantly higher!

we stopped for a light lunch at the weekend, there was a great selection of meals sandwiches and tapas, we chose a few tapas dishes and wolfed the lot with vigour. There is a great selection of St Austell brewery bears, a note of caution here, very much like parts of Wales which is dominated by Brains brewery pubs, Padstow... More
