We stayed in the bowling green cottage and ate at the restaurant 3 out of 4 times. Food was amazing and the staff were lovely. The sea bass was mouth watering, veg was cooked perfectly, not to hard not to soft. They didn't mind taking items off my plate that I didn't like and substituting it. So accommodating. My husband... This is not a fine dining establishment but offers a very good choice for those of us on a limited budget. Wine was well priced, crab salad was good value and excellent. Service was fine. Perhaps slightly lacking in atmosphere but not an issue if you want a good value meal.

Booked a table for 5 adults and a toddler as recommended by others on trip advisor, would have been a shame to miss out on this place without that knowledge. We had our table booked for 6 when it reopened for the evening trade. All the menu is written on a blackboard above the fireplace in this deceptively small rustic... More

We go to Wells every year and on this evening all the pubs nearer the town centre appeared to be full up. The Bowling Green Inn is a bit further off the coast and we have meant to try it for years. It was a good experience. We sat in the outside covered area, which was fine. The menu was... More

We decided to try here as it had been highly recommended by family who raved about this hidden gem in Wells next the sea. On entering it has a look of an old worldly pub. The menu was written on a blackboard clearly seen by all. There was lots that sounded yummy so struggled to choose. In the end I... More

With touristy destinations in the summer holidays, you would be forgiven for thinking that some pubs may not give 100% towards customer satisfaction. The Bowling Green, however, made us feel like returning regulars. The good variety of well-priced meals were presented nicely and were not stingy portions either. The quiche I had was very tasty as was my Eton mess... More

Spent our holiday this time travelling to places based on Trip Advisor reviews - this was working a treat until we stumbled upon the '2nd best' place in Wells. Closed throughout the afternoon, as with most places during the week day we turned up at 6 on the dot to get some food. (may have been 5). The menu is... More

This pub was recommended by a friend, and we walked in unannounced, on a mid-week evening. The atmosphere is one of a friendly local pub, used by the locals, and they are all happy to chat to anyone. We were offered a seat at any table we chose and the food, which came in average time, was excellent. We had... More

When you first walk in you can't help thinking it is going to be a typical British pub meal but once you start checking the specials board you have to readjust slightly. The prawn curry I had was fresh and home made and also nice and spicy, which is so unusual in a normal British pub. Fantastic flavour and not... More
