A friendly reception with good food.

We have visited this pub many times to eat and to stay in the accomodation. The food is well prepared and presented. There is a good choice on the menu and it is well priced. The atmosphere is traditional with wood burning fire to give a cosy ambience. The Landlady is friendly and helpful and runs... read more

We visited the Bowling Green Inn on a cold January night and were pleased to find our reserved table was next to one of the two woodburners. The atmosphere could fairly be described as "cosy." This is the sort of village inn that used to abound in rural England: flagstone floor, snug corners, horse brasses and local ales on tap.... More

We ate here for 2 nights while staying in the area. We took advice & booked in advance. It is small & cosy with a good variety of food on the menu, it`s always changing but a few things are always on eg Cod & Chips. Reasonably priced with friendly helpful staff. We would return while in the area.

We always go to the Bowling Green for our annual stay for the wife's birthday (1st January). Great atmosphere, lovely people and good food. The accomodation is first class. Clean, comfortable and a good central point for getting about. We have tried other places and now we would not go anywhere else! Good menu for vegeterians like me. Already booked... More

We've been visiting the Bowling Green all year round for several years and have always found it to be a welcoming pub with a great selection of good pub food for children and adults alike. Rightly very busy in the height of summer but worth a 5 min walk from the pubs in the centre.

We visited for a drink on a December Tuesday lunchtime - the pub was absolutely full of diners. My husband liked the Bowling Green Inn Ale. Wherry and other beers also available. Having checked the menu we booked for the following evening - which turned out not to be necessary but no one could predict how busy the place would... More

We have been visiting The Bowling Green Inn most months in the last 8 years. The meals are delicious and the plates full. We often choose Gammon, egg, & chips and have never been disappointed. Other choices have also been very good. The staff are friendly and there is a very good 'pub' atmosphere.

On our group's first night in Wells decided to eat near to our accommodation. Having pre-arranged we found our tables ready and waiting. Ordering drinks and food was relatively straightforward although we didn't help by having 4 of our party still travelling with a risk that they would arrive after the kitchen staff had gone - fortunately they arrived in... Had an evening meal here on a Saturday night. Quite busy which is a good sign. Good choice of food, well presented and tasty.
