We were treated to a meal for our honeymoon and they had knowledge of this prior to arrival. A lovely welcome and very prompt service even though they were busy. I had the mackerel pate which was homemade followed by steak in ale cobbler. My husband had cray fish cocktail followed by pork on mustard mash. Amazed at the quality... More

Plenty to choose from on the blackboard menu. Lots of sea food and old favourites. It is a pub, we just didn't enjoy eating next to a family with a large dog, especially with 2 small children.

We dined here on our little break to Wells and were not disappointed. We had to book as we couldn't get in the day before (always a good sign) The menu was varied and reasonably priced for that area. I had the pulled pork which was delicious and a generous portion, the starters were lovely and the puddings scrummy.sticky toffee pudding... More

This was more like average pub food on the day we visited and certainly nothing special. Having said that the staff were very friendly. They did have some good beers on though. We have no intention of revisiting

We stayed in the bowling green cottage and ate at the restaurant 3 out of 4 times. Food was amazing and the staff were lovely. The sea bass was mouth watering, veg was cooked perfectly, not to hard not to soft. They didn't mind taking items off my plate that I didn't like and substituting it. So accommodating. My husband... This is not a fine dining establishment but offers a very good choice for those of us on a limited budget. Wine was well priced, crab salad was good value and excellent. Service was fine. Perhaps slightly lacking in atmosphere but not an issue if you want a good value meal.

Booked a table for 5 adults and a toddler as recommended by others on trip advisor, would have been a shame to miss out on this place without that knowledge. We had our table booked for 6 when it reopened for the evening trade. All the menu is written on a blackboard above the fireplace in this deceptively small rustic... More
