Superb pancakes

Was told we were going somewhere a little different but not quite ready for this, it's on board a boat! An old Dutch sailing barge, moored at the quayside, you can sit on deck or go below, excellent beer but the pancakes were superb, between the 6 of us, we had 4 savoury & 2 sweet ones, all of... read more

On a freezing January evening the bar below the deck provided a welcoming, informal venue for a lovely evening meal. The Nelson's Revenge served straight from the barrel was extremely well kept and the savoury Dutch pancakes were delicious. I particularly recommend the spinach and boiled egg pancake!!

After many previous visits for pancakes etc we spent 2 nights on board in the Captains Cabin.... Like Marmite,You'll love it or hate it.But I think most overnighters will know what to expect as the B& B isnt widely advertised, so most will discover the cabins when on a day trip.and it will either be your thing... Or it wont.... More

No sign of John Cleese or the other Pythons on our visit to this Dutch sailing Barge moored in the harbour at Wells-next-the-Sea. John might have needed to stoop a bit to visit the bar below deck, where a wonderfully friendly atmosphere pervades, provided by the wonderful service and friendly owners and staff, good food, marvellous mussels and perfect pancakes... We went here in late summer in the evening - taking my daughter and her French exchange student - the atmosphere is very good - we had a table on the deck which we booked in advance - the food was very well presented and different from the other local restaurants. It was all freshly made and the beer was... More

We love this place and often stop here for a drink whilst in Wells. The pancakes look amazing but we were there at a time when food wasn't being served. It's quite a challenge getting on and off the boat due to narrow ladders - but worth it if you are mobile. Great location on the quayside.

Called in on a Friday evening. Great atmosphere. Small room on the barge makes for a cosy and unusual pub. The wherry bitter straight from the barrel was excellent. The barman was friendly. A band was setting up but we had to go before they started but I inagine with music the atmosphere would be even better. The only thing... More

We've only been home a hour, having reluctantly left Wells around 3.00pm. We've been before but never noticed that The Albatross was open for food and drink. It's really cold there today but we had lovely hot drinks and waffles and pancakes accompanied by a fantastic folk duo. It's not your regular pub or restaurant, but we'll readily go back... More
