We Visited on a very warm summers evening and therefore were able to appreciate the setting in which this very well kept secret is located. We were one of the first dining guests to arrive (they are also a bed and breakfast) and were greeted at the door by a very lovely lady and two very lovely, friendly dogs (the... More

I heard about this little place through the grape vine. Being told that it is a lovely place and very quirky. The kind of thing I would be interested in and told that it had great food. My visit... Was... Different... We arrived at about 7:30 after having booked a table. There wasn't much parking available so we parked away... More

Freshly made dough and cooked in a stone baked oven. Large portion, but Andrew heated my leftovers for my lunch the next day. :-)

With many restaurants following a similar formula this place is the complete antithesis. I went in and saw such an array of sights/objects, was welcomed by the owners, and shown a table - I knew this place had a way of its own of working so sat back and relaxed. I asked if they could do a toasted cheese sandwich... More

Third visit to this charming, quirky restaurant, which will probably be my last. Our first visit was very good and everything was great. Second visit about 18 months ago not so good as one of the desserts served to one of our party of six was shop bought arctic roll! The latest visit - main course delicious, dessert consisted of... We visited Chalk and Cheese on the off chance one Thursday evening without booking. Unfortunately the restaurant wasn't cooking, but we met two friendly dogs and two equally friendly and helpful owners. Over a drink, we booked for the following evening and the owners organised us a table at a nearby pub for the evening. Come Friday evening we were... More

Six of us enjoyed a really fine Sunday lunch at this unique restaurant. Our pre lunch drinks, served in the delightful lounge area, were accompanied by tasty nibbles, courtesy of Mine Host. The menu, though not extensive, adequately catered for our varied tastes. The wine list offered a comprehensive selection, modestly priced. The staff were helpful, cheerful and efficient.

Some friends introduced us to the Chalk and Cheese yesterday for lunch. It is one of the most interesting restaurants I have ever been to and can't wait to go back and stay at the B & B which looks great. It is very difficult to describe this old school house as it is so different and interesting. We weren't... More

Three of us went for lunch and disappointed with the menu. It was very basic and things I can throw together in minutes at home. One of the desserts was packaged crepes and canned fruit. We will probably not return for lunch.
