Basic pub food

Menu limited and unadventurous. Chips from a frozen packet....really big portions but nothing special. Alright for everyday food....not as special occasion. Pub clean and nice. Service good. A bit pricey for quality of food served.

First time my family stopped in, there were only 5 of us. Great food with many choices (the fish and the sausages were well liked), decent service. We later had a family gathering of over 20 people which went very well. The food took a bit of time, but not that long considering how many people ordered so close together.... More

We stopped here for lunch on Saturday on the way home from a holiday in the Peak District. We were attracted by the "last pub for 40 miles" sign. The place was not particularly full and things started well with a good menu choice and decent selection of beers. We ordered crusted salmon with saute potatoes and veg plus a... More

Thank you for taking the trouble to leave a review. Although it was not the kind of review I like to read but it does help me in rectifying these kind of problems. It looks like abit of staff training is required and I assure you this will be carried out. My apologies to you both More

My husband and I have been on a number of occasions to this pub and never been disappointed. The staff are very friendly and helpful, it's clean and comfy. Now the best bit. The food is delicious. The veg come in a separate bowl which is nice and your taste buds are in for a treat with their special carrot... More

28 members from Sainsburys Veterans enjoyed an excellent 2 course lunch at your restaurant today. Staff were very friendly and polite. Food was hot and plenty of it. We look forward to coming again in the near future. JOY (Chairman)

Decided to book this place as it was near Fir Lodge where we were staying, and we could not fault it! The food & service was excellent, and should I come back to this area of the country again, I would definitely be returning for a meal here.

We had lunch, the staff are very welcoming and polite. The interior is cosy and clean. Our meals were cooked really well and presented as if we were in a top restaurant. We shared a platter for two, it was awesome. My hubby recommends the sausage baguette, and it comes with crisps. The chunky chips were delicious. Very reasonable prices... More

Two very poor meals - served on chipped plates. No mid-meal "is everything OK?" as is the norm - probably they knew the answer !?. Will not be back

Sorry to hear of your experience, I am sure your problem would have been rectified had it been bought to our attention. I have spoken to all the staff on duty that day and none of them was aware of any problems either with food or service. More
