A group of eight was accommodated for a meal, which was very nice, service was good, food was tasty, wine choices limited, but acceptable

Last year we visited this pub and couldn't get out of there fast enough. This year it is unrecognisable now it is under new management. We spent a week staying in Kirkby Stephen, and in our opinion this was by far the best place for food and drinks. The staff in both the bar and the restaurant area were really... More

While camping at Kirkby Stephen we came to the kings Arms for our evening meal. Cheeseburgers & chips for myself & son, daughter had cumberland sos & mash. We did not have to wait long, and the food was very good and nicely presented - chips in elegant baskets and not greasy. Burgers were excellent. Most of the meals were... More

My boyfriend, who lives near, and i have only been to the kings arm twice. The first time we had two steaks for £15 and it was great the service was great. Food was cooked just how we wanted it. The second time, well it was just horrible. The service was awful. I had steak and asked for it medium/rare.... More

Poor service due to lack of staff and any sort of organisation in order taking and general being seated at tables and waited on. Come on , all it takes is a few hard working teenagers on minimum wage but this place was poor. One overworked barmaid and one overworked waitress. Place needs a face lift and attracts the dregs... On holiday nearby, with ate here twice in one week. The first timeI had chicken breast wrapped in bacon, with a yummy creamy leek sauce and enjoyed it very much. My husband had the steak pie, and said it was nice so I had it on our second visit, while he plumped for lasagne. The steak in the pie was... More

As the menue was not very inspiring, I took the safe route, I thought. Sirloin steak, rare, with trimmings and chips. It came on a thin metal platter and I can only imagine what happened - they must have cooked the steak, which did not have much flavour, then put it on the platter to wait for the whole tomato...
