Called in for lunch with our two Jack Russells. First plus point is dog friendly in the very comfortable Snug - good start. The staff were extremely friendly and the service was both efficent and quick. I had the steak and ale pie and my wife the fish, both with chips which were cooked to perfection - crisp outside and... We decided to have a trip out to lunch, drove about 40 miles to Kirkby Stephen and the family chose to have lunch in the Kings Arms. The menu was fairly limited but everyone made their choices and drinks were provided quickly. I had the steak and ale pie which was very, very good, my wife had lasagne which she... More

We ate here last week whilst staying in kirkby stephen. The food was delicious, i had the steak and ale pie and my partner had the special Steak. Everything was freshly cooked and tasted delcious. Would recommend and would like to return. Also good value for money not overly priced.

We were passing through Kirkby Stephen and looking for a Sunday lunch. Came across this Hotel and saw the 'Home cooked food' sign. Great service. Had an excellent Roast Beef lunch for under £9 each (plus drinks). Definitely recommended.

Last year we visited this pub and couldn't get out of there fast enough. This year it is unrecognisable now it is under new management. We spent a week staying in Kirkby Stephen, and in our opinion this was by far the best place for food and drinks. The staff in both the bar and the restaurant area were really... More

While camping at Kirkby Stephen we came to the kings Arms for our evening meal. Cheeseburgers & chips for myself & son, daughter had cumberland sos & mash. We did not have to wait long, and the food was very good and nicely presented - chips in elegant baskets and not greasy. Burgers were excellent. Most of the meals were... More

My boyfriend, who lives near, and i have only been to the kings arm twice. The first time we had two steaks for £15 and it was great the service was great. Food was cooked just how we wanted it. The second time, well it was just horrible. The service was awful. I had steak and asked for it medium/rare.... More

Poor service due to lack of staff and any sort of organisation in order taking and general being seated at tables and waited on. Come on , all it takes is a few hard working teenagers on minimum wage but this place was poor. One overworked barmaid and one overworked waitress. Place needs a face lift and attracts the dregs...
