Just what we wanted

An excellent New Years Eve dinner. A warm welcome followed by a very good meal beautifully served. At £28 a head for such quality would be impossible to match.

We were so pleased that at last tried this delightful little place. The little restaurant is quirky and quite unique really in how they do things. You can not just walk in blind or even book on the day so it seems. You have to pre order at least 24 hours before you see. Obviously this well eliminate wastage and... More

We were on a walking tour and had a B & B elsewhere in town (not near as nice as Swanson House B & B)...but we read the menu and wanted to eat there. We contacted the owner/chef who we were told to call Mrs. Pat. We asked if we could have a reservation for that night. We wanted to... More

Fresh, local, seasons ingredients, cooked to perfection and presented beautifully. Each one of those is very important, and it's wonderful to see a small restaurant focus on them, and strive to achieve something better, when it would be so much easier to do what so many other, disappointing, restaurants do, and buy it in. For starter I had the chicken... More

Really lovely home cooked food . Had one of the best starters ever and great value for money which includes home made chocolates . If in the area a must place to eat was the best we found for miles and we ate at a few . Also the staff were so warm and friendly .

We visited for the New Year's Eve special dinner. The really good thing about this resaurant is that you can be sure of freshly-cooked food from very good raw ingredients, much of it locally sourced. To give you even more confidence, the source of much of the food is shown on the menu (e.g. "Bessy Beck" smoked trout tartlett, "Dexter"... More

Thanks to Pat and Philip for a wonderful meal on the eve of our first wedding anniversary. We had one of the best value three course meals with wine that I can remember in recent history with food and service that would put many big city restaurants to shame. Don't be put off by needing to order before you visit... More

We booked our meal at Swanson house nearly 2 months ago for a romantic meal as part of our mini honeymoon, It turned out to be one of the best meals we have both ever had! Philip and Pat were amazing hosts, very polite and also very helpful. We had to pre order from the menu sent to us to... More
