Cracking cafe

When my wife and I visit Kirkby Lonsdale, we always call in here for a snack/meal and coffee. Great food and service with a smile. On our last visit, we had the soup - leek and mushroom - which was the best I've ever tasted - and that's saying something ! Reasonable prices, and, on a cold day, to... read more

We have never failed to be delighted with our choice from an interesting menu. Apparently simple things like Cumberland sausage are enhanced with , for example, super tasty puy lentil gravy. Its a bit cramped until you are seated, often very busy but hard to understand some comments. Theres always someone on the bakery counter to ask for help even if... More

We visited with family and had a great lunch followed by cakes. All food was delicious and the place was very cosy with a real fire on a cold day. Children enjoyed the food too and there was lots of choice. The service was good too with friendly, efficient staff. The only disappointment was the state of the toilets. They... More

Usually use this for lunch but when we arrived we waited for someone to tell us if any tables were available. staff seemed to more interested in changing soup list and generally flapping in the shop. In the end we left, all it would have taken was a few words letting us know if or when a table would be... More

this is the second time we have walked out of this Bakery. On this occasion we arrived on a very snowy lunch time,12.30 to be precise. Not exactly packed. We wanted a bacon roll and a cup of tea/coffee. After some time the waitress asked us what we wanted having said she pointed out that the breakfast menu stopped at... More

We came here on a short overnight break in the area between Christmas and the New Year. I don't claim to be a food expert, and I note and agree with the owner's last comments on TripAdvisor. However, I have to leave a review because this really was a lovely lunch. Very busy, but we managed to get in virtually... More

Very comfortable and homely. Would certainly recommend. Staff very friendly, polite and attentative. We had the smoked mackerel and spinach rissoto and it hit the spot exactly, along with a welcoming fire best thing on such a cold day. Bought a loaf when leaving and it was lovely and fresh. Thank you

A lovely bakery with an out the back atmospheric eating area. Roaring fire and a cosey warm place to eat or have a pot of tea. Portions are large and excellent value. I had beetroot baguette. This came with a hefty superfood type salad and was more than enough. The other half had braised brisket baguette. This had a around... More
