This was our second time at the Hare. First time was around 6 months ago and was very good. However to night we had a very poor meal, my partner paid £18 for a sirloin steak that was sat in a pool of Grease, and obviously was slapped straight from pan to plate with 4 chips that were cold and... This was my 2nd visit (last in April) and it was for a midway family Sunday lunch again. Very similar to last time as the food was lovely but the service could be improved. The young ladies were not as attentive as they could have been and we had to work quite hard to get their attention to get more... More

Having visited this place on several occasions and had nothing but excellent food and service, I decided to book a sunday lunch for my family and friends. The food was not quite up to service, portions very much smaller than on previous visits and desserts clearly bought in (not the usual home made that I had become used to), the... More

I have used this restaurant about seven times in 2014 and the issue is the huge variability in the quality of the food and the service, and even the landlord's welcome. Such a shame because it can vary between excellent and awful - too much of a lottery, so i can no longer trust this place for a special occasion.

My husband and I stopped here for dinner on our way to a b and b nearby. We thought the menu offered a varied selection and the decor complimented the age of the building. Our food was delicious and plentiful. The only slight and minor disappointment was that the cheese board had very ordinary biscuits, when there are so many... More

Forget the food, nothing ruins an experience more than a completely rude man in charge. Not a friendly experience in the West Berks area. I would nt bother going back.

We chose this place as a half-way meeting point for lunch with friends. We were very early, so decided to have a drink whilst waiting. The décor is very pleasant and on trend, so when I ordered a dry white wine I felt confident that what I was served would be good. Wrong! Was not keen at all (thought it... More

Hadn't planned to stop here at all. We were passing through on the way to Somerset and decided to stop somewhere for a country lunch. Came across The Hare Inn. We arrived slightly earlier than lunch time, about 11.45am. We thought the restaurant was very well done out, lots of tables to chose from, very clean and tables nicely set... More

We visited on a warm, but windy, day in July. Quite a lot of garden to sit in but not much shade and the first umbrella we sat under blew right over the wall and might have landed on a passer-by! Luckily, no harm done, but shows that sunshades should be anchored. Too nice to sit inside but the garden... More

OK, it was Monday lunchtime, but the car park was full and it does call itself a restaurant and bar, sadly for a place that once had Michelin star the experience was dire. Four of us arrived at just about 1pm. One of us on his birthday. First the good bits. We were allowed take our very placid dog into... More
