I found this restaurant having taken an unplanned detour off the M4 due to a traffic jam one day and decided at a later day to make a visit. The Hare has a very modern, easy going atmosphere, lots of wood but a clean line rather than shabby chic. The owners have really thought about the look and feel for... More

We wanted to meet up with our family and Hungerford and The Hare provided the halfway house between our homes. We booked it after consulting TripAdvisor and looking at the favourable reviews. We had a good run through and decided to have a cup of tea while we waited. We has a lovely warm welcome and we were soon enjoying... More

Nothing was too much trouble for the lovely April. She greeted us with a happy smile and continued to smile throughout. The food was good; very pretty to look at as well as tasty, and the décor was pleasant, but as an employer, I always notice fabulous staff, and April would get 10/10. I think staff make or break a... I went to the Hare at Lambourn Woodlands for lunch mid-week. Not at all busy, but the service was very personal and attentive and the food good. A nice place for good hearty food - nothing too fussy.

Not worth the price and no one else there. I had a starter which was tasteless so did not order any thing else, my husband ordered a main but was unimpressed. Shame as we are local so wanted more places to eat out locally.

the a-board outside said "open", the website suggests the bar should have been open until 8pm and the sign near the car-park said open until 8pm but when I walked in at 7:25pm on Sunday I was met with an empty bar and a chap in the corner who simply said "sorry, we're closed". entirely up to the the pub... Hi, thank you for leaving a review, the catering industry as you know uses poetic licence at times with its opening hours, we serve "lunch" from 12-6 on a Sunday, hence why we normally close at 8. when you visited, we must have rounded up all the stragglers early and decided to shut up shop for a rest, apologies for... Picked at random for a family Sunday lunch as it was halfway and I'd checked the reviews on here and thought it was worth a try. Initial service was a bit slow as we had to request someone to come and take our drinks order but it improved greatly after that. My roast beef was lovely, perfectly pink and very... More

Tracey, thank you very much for the review, you have described us perfectly, more a restaurant than a pub, but can do both! apologies for the grumpy one, we will sort that! glad you had a great meal and as with any of our customers, if you want more veg, more sauce, something a bit different, just ask! its never... Go there fairly frequently - nothing is too much trouble, you can adapt the menu - starters as main course etc. Always very friendly - a lone woman would not feel unwelcome. Menu changed frequently - fish and chips always good! The Racing fraternity go there quite often and are always friendly! You might buy a horse! . There is... More

My family and I (2 adults and 2 children aged 11 and 8) visited The Hare about 3 years ago for a Saturday lunch, after having read a positive review from a British fine restaurants guide. That day, the food and service were excellent and the setting really pretty. The menu, based on French cuisine, was varied and sophisticated. Good... More

Hello, firstly let me apologise to you for not meeting your expectations. You are correct in the fact the Hare has changed hands i think twice since you last visited. Back when you did the previous owners were taking the restaurant in a "fine dining" direction, quite simply that wasn't viable hence they sold up. We have been at the... More
