Terrific venue

Each time I've been to 'The Hare' there's been a great atmosphere, enjoyable food and friendly staff. Last week was no exception. Very reasonable prices... Would thoroughly recommend...What more could you want!

This has to be one of the best restaurants that I have visited, and I’m quite fussy when it comes to eating out. It has good selection of dishes to choose from. It is situated in stunning open countryside. It has a tasteful modern decor throughout the restaurant and bar area. A good choice of back ground music playing, at... More

I realised the standard of The Hare would not be as fine as it was in bygone years when it had 2 Michelin Stars, but the disappointment I felt last night, justifies spending time writing this review. In one word, the experience was totally APPALLING, and I am so annoyed that we spent my sons birthday, on a precious occasion all... More

We first visited the The Hare Bar & Restaurant at Lambourn a few years ago. Like many place you revisit you hope that the establishment has changed and grown since the last visit. Unfortunately while The Hare Bar & Restaurant has changed, I fear its not for the better. Sure....the bar and restaurant has had a 'swanky country chic' make... More

I arrived a little late for a lunch meeting. Dressed as a blue collar worker which, I am. As I walked in I was glared at by a very grumpy man leaning on the counter. No welcome, no, can I assist, just a very unwelcoming glare. I joined my colleagues at our table. Appetite lost. So sat through the meeting... More

I have been going to the Hare for the last 25 years. We went yesterday for lunch having booked and waited nearly an hour for our meal. I was interested to see Raffaella's review on 27 February 2014 re very slow service...We were served after two near by tables who came in after us. There were only very few tables... More

This was our second time at the Hare. First time was around 6 months ago and was very good. However to night we had a very poor meal, my partner paid £18 for a sirloin steak that was sat in a pool of Grease, and obviously was slapped straight from pan to plate with 4 chips that were cold and... This was my 2nd visit (last in April) and it was for a midway family Sunday lunch again. Very similar to last time as the food was lovely but the service could be improved. The young ladies were not as attentive as they could have been and we had to work quite hard to get their attention to get more... More

Having visited this place on several occasions and had nothing but excellent food and service, I decided to book a sunday lunch for my family and friends. The food was not quite up to service, portions very much smaller than on previous visits and desserts clearly bought in (not the usual home made that I had become used to), the... More

I have used this restaurant about seven times in 2014 and the issue is the huge variability in the quality of the food and the service, and even the landlord's welcome. Such a shame because it can vary between excellent and awful - too much of a lottery, so i can no longer trust this place for a special occasion.
