Great food

Couldn't find a nicer or more luxurious venue for a wonderful meal than here in the Hotel Rural Victoria restaurant. The chef is an artist. Not cheap, but you pay for what you get and you get...good!

In early July (so it was relatively quiet) we had lunch here. We were the only clients but, nonetheless, we were nicely welcomed and well looked after. We didn't have the famous lunch menu as it wasn't available. The food was good without being show-stopping but we would definitely go again. And Oratava is a delightful place for a little... More

Since I first reviewed this restaurant last October, my husband and I have returned every week. Sometimes for the A la Carte menu but mostly for the menu of the day. Both have always been excellent. Recently Chef Richard left to start a new restaurant. His capable assistant took over. The first time we went back, the food was great... More

Lovely lunch here mid holiday, we were in sharp at 1pm so it was very quiet but it's a very calming atmosphere and didn't feel intimidating. I had local tapas and my wife had a garden salad to start, mains were Pork curry for me and my wife had Hake. Both were excellent. For dessert we both had fresh fruit... More

Found this via trip advisor. Excellent local food (Chef is a Scot apparently..) We had the special lunch menu of about 10 Euros & it was great. Seafood soup deserves special mention. Cheapest meal we had all holiday in a lovely covered courtyard with brill service. If you are in the areas... have a shot. You won't be disappointed. It's... More

I chose this restaurant (and hotel) for a recent significant birthday celebration, and we could not have been more pleased. It was a quiet evening and the very friendly and welcoming waiter went out of his way to give us a special evening. His wine recommendations were superb and the food was the best of the holiday. We thoroughly enjoyed... More

On Sunday there is only a la care available. However there is a good choice and specialities such as the calamari with local potato and truffle are very good.

We picked this place based on the Michelin recommendations. The Victoria team demonstrated a highly friendly and service minded approach from our first call. We received the menu on email the day before. We pre-ordered from a very nice selection of starters, mains and dessert. At arrival we were welcomed by the waiter (which also worked in the bar and... As with our experience staying at the Hotel Victoria of which this restaurant is a part, we had mixed feelings. The food was delicious and well cooked - really excellent - but other things spoilt the experience. I had checked if they could cater for a vegetarian when I booked and reconfirmed on arrival at the hotel but when we... More
