Good customary alternative

When teaching in Baeza I always come to La Gondola for lunch. Reasonable, fast service and the menu is good and less expensive than others in the plaza. Salmorejo is one of the best in Baeza, as are the cocidos and lentejas. I will continue coming in future years.

We've visited before - and had problems with the fish then - they never seem to have several items that you ask for. Fortunately I went for pork and it was good but my fellow diners ordered steak, medium - and it almost ran off the plate towards the exit. The soup, however, was delicious, as was the cheesecake. So,... More

Be aware of Spanish only: menu, waiters etc. The dining room is next to the bar on the right hand. The food is fine, just try the traditional spanish tapas as a starter, then the salad and the main course. Wine list is good enough for person, familiar with the most well known spanish brands.

Too expensive for what it is! The waitress very unpolite, waiting us to leave with his keys on his hands. At least, I was waiting that the potatoes the Baeza( 12E+VAT) would be cooked with the attraction product "Virgin Olive Oil" and not with a cheap sunflower oil!! Don't visit.

Surprised by the poor reviews here. We went for the menu del dia, at 10 euros with a glass of wine, and all four of us thought it was excellent value for money. The staff were friendly and the service was prompt. Certainly worth a try if you're on a tight budget.

We had stewed potatoes with lamb for first course, then stewed lamb with potatoes for main . . . our fault the choice was bad! But the meat had not been cleaned and was full of fat and gristle, as well as being cold. Service rather hit-and-miss too.

We liked that all the dishes are huge and relatively cheap and they all taste better than what one would expect from a place with a local feel to it. However, do go early for dinners as this place is a local favorite and without booking there might not be empty tables left.

This is an awful restaurant masquerading as a typical roasting house. The service is poor, careless (soup spilling over dish), and quality shameless (grissely meat, tinned mushrooms). I hope you can find something better in Baeza but I have to say the others did not look much better - the town is a tourist trap, until we all tire of... More

During our three-day stay in Baeza we had diner at this place. To sum it up: Food is below average, very costly and the waiters are unfriendly and greedy. We hat potatoes with mushrooms as a starter (food was almost cold and mushrooms came fom a can) and fish as the main dish. The fish was pobably frozen before and... More

It's a very touristic restaurant, aimed to get profit from the people who come to visit Baeza. If you see it from outside, its like a tapas bar but if you step in and tell the patrons you want to eat, they'll guide you in a inner room. The food is just basic, even the local specialties, and the price... More
