Lovely time

I have been to the Whitehorses many times. The food is good, although rich. But they are very accommodating if you ask for modifications such as grilled instead of Thermidor lobster. Everything is well cooked and the restaurant is family run, serving locally sourced food. The only downside to the... read more

We were staying in Ardmore and decided rather than eat in our hotel that we might try a local restaurant. As it happened we tried Whitehorses but had not booked. They were very nice and seated us straight away.A very good menu, so both of us decided on steak. I explained that we would them well cooked and were told... More

Six of us booked in for Sunday lunch and although restaurant was very busy we were seated after short wait, given two menus and while we were still settling in(taking off wet coats, umbrella s etc) two separate staff members asked for our order! That set the pace for rest of lunch which three courses were rushed through and plates... More

We were a party of six for Sunday lunch , after we were seated for 25 minutes we had to approach staff to take our order , They were busy , had plenty of staff but were not well organised. We all had the beef , the portions were small , were a unusually pale colour and very salty. The main... More

Booking is essential in the summer season as this busy little restaurant. keeps turning over its table unsurprisingly. The menu has lots of variety and serves a really good lunch..not this fiddly stuff when you want to be fed.It serves plain simple food cooked to perfection. Two of us had plaice which was two fine fillets each, one had the... More

We were there on a very busy summer evening - so expected slow service and not the best of food from a kitchen under pressure. I had the seafood chowder as a starter - it was delicious. My wife ordered a fillet steak and I ordered a sirloin steak. When they arrived they were both huge! The fillet was perfectly... More

We had lunch here. I had a starter of mussels in breadcrumbs - served in a distinctive dish with lahings of melted butter. For mains I had loin of pork served on concannon mash with a delicious gravy. We had a medley of vegetables and new potatoes and chips. Delicious! Service was prompt and unobtrusive. An excellent restaurant.

Food excellent, really tasty but not enough (party of 5 adults - 2 of us didn't get any vegetables/not enough to go round). Service poor, slow, the young waitress didn't smile or engage in any chit chat. We felt rushed, very busy. We had to stand up 3 times to remind them of drinks which had been forgotten. This is...
