A Diversion Well Worth While

I had read so many good reports we had to divert to see for ourselves. Shells overlooks the sea .It was very busy but we were looked after very quickly, though we had been told we may have a 15 minute wait. We were quite happy to have a look around the shop alongside the café but within 5... read more

Shells Café is the sort of coffee place that is popping up all over Ireland, and is always a welcome sight. The coffee is well-made and freshly-ground, the food is wholesome and delicious, and the baked goods are far too tempting. There's a shop attached to the café for take-away and to buy other things. The staff are friendly, but... More

Have to say the food here is gorgeous. The breakfasts are yum. Café can get very busy but the food is worth waiting for.

I loved the look of this place and while looking at the menu noticed that the fish and chips looked fantastic. Two of us walked in off the street and over to an empty table. We were seated when a waitress appeared and with a raised and somewhat disparaging voice told us we couldn't sit there and would have to... More

We called into Shells Cafe after a very windy visit to the beach at nearby Rosses Point. We were a large group of 14 and found a long table on the outside terrace. All of the meals were really fresh and tasty and the large sizes left everybody satisfied. I found that especially in comparison to a less enjoyable lunch... More

Love the fish and chips here and then looking out the window as the sun sets. Good size meal, would only ask to have a little coleslaw or salad to balance out the deep fried food.

Really quaint busy seaside cafe serving some great food by the shore. Full of locals, and a great place to stop in on for a coffee, dessert, breakfast or lunch. Was a rainy cool day by the shore and this was the perfect respite.

Got the lunch special. Italian chicken wrap. ..very bland. Found a hair under my salad. Waitress sincerely apologised and initially said it would be taken off my bill. Then she returned to say that manager said I would be charged half - price. Not impressed I asked to speak to manager who said that none of the chefs had hair!!... More

I stopped by here for lunch before heading next door to the Voya seaweed baths. It was a blustery, windy, wavy day - so windy patrons on the outside needed help from patrons on the inside to help open the door! I enjoyed a nice cup of tea with their soup of the day and homemade brown bread. I enjoyed... More

Great location overlooking the beach. Food is really lovely and the wee shop is quainte. However, we found when it was damp and the outside seats couldn't be used, huge queues form and you will run out of patience waiting to get a table. The food isn't that good. There are better places to eat, rather than standing in a... More
