We visited Strandhill twice over the weekend, both times the cafe was very busy. The second visit, we enjoyed a great lunch in Shells. It was full when we arrived, but an extremely friendly waitress took the initiative to take our name and seated us as soon as there was a table free. Luckily for us it was a table... More

I would consider shells cafe one of the jobs of Strandhill since been taken over by the new owners they have really brought this lovely cafe on. The food has care and preparation put into it and the staff are as friendly as the prices. We are too used to seeing resort sides taking the mick with tourists, not Shells.... More

Myself and my hubby called into Shells at lunchtime last Wednesday. It was busy but we didn't have to wait on a table. We both ordered sandwiches and coffees but they are not your ordinary sambos. No they are more like doorstops a meal in themselves. Very tasty. The staff were friendly. Service was fast. The menu offers not only... More

I went to Shell's for breakfast last Sunday morning with a friend of mine who lives in Sligo. We went early (10 AM) to miss the rush. The coffee was great, the food was great and the service was excellent. I'd recommend this place to anyone visiting Strandhill (or even Sligo).

Visited based on a family recommendation. This place deserves its reputation. Also give the shop a visit. It's well worth spending a few minutes there

My first visit to Shells yesterday for lunch was very enjoyable. I had the goats cheese with roasted butternut squash salad (seasonal special of the day) with a mini soup of the day (creamy curried cauliflower) served with two slices of homemade brown bread. Excellent, fresh, tasty, different and well presented food. The brown bread is lovely, light and soft.... More

I have eaten here lots of times. Its never disappointing. It used to be a Sligo secret but now the news is out and it can be crowded with delays/ques for tables. Tables are too close together for comfort, its an effort to satisfy demand. Food is great ,imaginative, well priced, something for everyone. Staff very busy maybe lack politeness. This location... Had lunch here yesterday. We eat a lot here during our visits many visits to Sligo and find its hard to beat their food for a casual breakfast or lunch in the Strandhill area. Although the price is premium the decor and service is not. The chairs and tables need to be changed and the napkins are just too basic.... More
