Lovely food, friendly staff and reasonably priced all add up to a highly recommended place to eat. Generous portion sizes too.

Good service, nice table and friendly staff but the food was only average. The price was reasonable. Most of the group of six had steaks which were well cooked. Portions were generous. I had Carbonara which was not memorable. We did not have desserts.

We came quite late after visiting nearby Newgrange. Although we were alone on a Saturday night (it was 8:30pm), they close at 9:30pm most nights, so people must dine early. We had delicious meals, but bring your appetite, the portions are substantial! Thanks again!

We recently stayed the night at the Old Post Office Hotel, located on the main street in Slane, and ate in their restaurant. We were tempted to leave based on the room conditions - dirt, spiders, windows that wouldn't stay open, showers that trickled... but the staff seemed friendly, and we had been searching for quite a while for accomodations,... Visited with family for dinner whilst in the area for a wedding - hadn't pre booked but managed to get a table for 6 after a short wait. The food was very good, and freshly cooked rather than "ping ping" which is common in so many places. It was also very reasonably priced for the area. The service we received... More

The surroundings of Slane are historic and beautiful, as is the Old Post Office. The atmosphere is relaxing and interesting, the food excellent, and well priced. A must if you are in the area. The garlic bread is really good as are the fajitas. The service was also second to none, a really good night out.

I had read several reviews about the Old Post Office restaurant so my partner and I decided to try it last Monday. Bad decision! I had prawns for starters. While they were not gone off, they definitely were not fresh and they tasted quite leathery. My main course was worse. The chips were of the frozen variety. Freshly cut chips... More
