The building has been lovingly transformed into a charming restaurant having once served as the village post office there was a brusque lunchtime trade when I arrived but the staff seemed well in control and were most welcoming and helpful. The food was excellent I had the steak sandwich and it was perfectly cooked and a good sized portion. A... More

When we entered, it was way too dark - almost hard to read the menu. The beer was obviously from a bottle, not from the tap - even if I ordered from the tap. The glass was not clean. The dishes were not good and the portions were small. I ordered a 340g piece of dry aged meat - but... More

End of season, really couldn't be bothered about us although the food was excellent. Well sourced ingredients and my Gaelic sauce on my steak was delectable but the main guy really left us alone while he laughed and talked to friends. Later he encouraged us to go over to the pub for a drink instead of having dessert and coffee.... More

We were heading from Monaghan to Leixlip yesterday and planned to stop off in Slane to have lunch in the hotel there but was closed to public for wedding and were advised to pop over road to the Old Post Office. In we went at about 3pm, very busy, table straight away, water and order taken. Food fab, service excellent... More

Lovely food, friendly staff and reasonably priced all add up to a highly recommended place to eat. Generous portion sizes too.

Good service, nice table and friendly staff but the food was only average. The price was reasonable. Most of the group of six had steaks which were well cooked. Portions were generous. I had Carbonara which was not memorable. We did not have desserts.

We came quite late after visiting nearby Newgrange. Although we were alone on a Saturday night (it was 8:30pm), they close at 9:30pm most nights, so people must dine early. We had delicious meals, but bring your appetite, the portions are substantial! Thanks again!

We recently stayed the night at the Old Post Office Hotel, located on the main street in Slane, and ate in their restaurant. We were tempted to leave based on the room conditions - dirt, spiders, windows that wouldn't stay open, showers that trickled... but the staff seemed friendly, and we had been searching for quite a while for accomodations,...
