This traditional restaurant lies in old Porvoo, and the athmosphere is very cosy. Service was kind, but not very professional (did not know much of their wines...). We had snails for starters and they were OK, my mussels were good too, but some of food we ordered was little disappointing - especially desserts weren`t that good.

Porvoo is a very small and charmy city near Helsinki. Once there, Timbaali is a very good choice to a quick and relaxing lunch in the center of the old part of the city, where you could try Finish food on a very tasty and healthy buffet, while we were lucky to hear a very nice oboe trio performing. The terrace of Timbaali was almost full when we walked in and got seated. We got menus to our hands but then nothing happened in a loooong time. No water, no nothing. There was one waitress running food from the kitchen to other tables, cleaning other ones... obviously one person was not enough to serve all tables. Not her fault... More

This was a great little restaurant we wandered into on rainy day. We were greeted by cheerful staff and seated in a cozy warm room with an antique stove. Had a great server, enjoyed a bottle of red wine and delicious white fish that was pan fried. The meal was delicious, a perfect afternoon. Highly recommend this lovely restaurant.

Good menu - the snails were unexpected but the fish of the day was good as was the tournados - cooked to perfection. Excellent service,

Got to Porvoo late Sunday and chose this restaurant cause it was still open. Did not know what to expect. The escargots with gorgonzola cheese was to die for. The main plates were excellent. And the dessert was very good. Not sure if it was cause we were hungry but the meal was one of the best we have had... More

I want to eat at a table with white cloth, napkin and service. This would have been possible at Timbaali, but as my beloved wife wanted to have the "fish oriented" buffet, I joined her. What a delightful array of herrings, fish, meats... I found nothing that I would not have liked! (And I tested almost all of it) Service... More

This is a cosy, little restaurant at the old town of Porvoo. We had a few hour time to spend in Porvoo and stumbled accidentally to this place. Good we did, as the place was nice, with a good menu and good service. We had the escargots for starters. They were good, though I have had better. For main course... More

Porvoo is a small town about 50 km from Helsinki. Porvoo's old town is beautiful and nice. Timbaali is specialized in escargots but you find on the Menu also meet and fish. We took escargots to start with and Fish for main course. It was very good. Whenever I am in Porvoo, Timbaali is my Place. I recommend.

If you are visiting Porvoo, this is a really nice place to stop by for a dinner. The place is rather romantic, being in an old house with it's own, unique features. The terrace is spacious and looks stylish and serves even in rain as it is covered. The service is friendly and knowing. You are likely to feel yourself... More
