Old Yuma Family Restaurant

El Charro has been serving Yumas since 1943. My wife and I both like it(she was born and raised in Yuma). The beans are service the "old" fashion way with lard, hmmm they taste great but be carefull as you can hear your arteries hardening :) Prices are fair as is the quanity and quality of food. This is a good place to eat. Authentic Mexican. The cheese crisp is a must order. Margaritas were big and very good. 4 types of salsa all are good. Very friendly staff with great service. We will all be back!

We enjoyed the Mexican atmosphere of the restaurant but felt it was extremely noisy. We really liked the salsa with all the various peppers. It had such a unique flavor. Because it was our first visit, we took the waitress suggestion on what to order. She suggested the "saddle". This is a large flour tortilla filled with a green meat... More

We read the rave reviews and were anxious to give this place a try on a trip to Yuma. The staff was very friendly, but it went downhill from there. The first chips delivered to the table looked like the bottom of the bag. We were given another basket when the waitress also noticed that we had dime size pieces.... More

Based upon the Trip Advisor reviews below (especially Alonzo), we decided to stop here for take out since we were traveling with our dog Luke. I walked in at 3, ordered, and before a coke was completed had our order to eat in the car! Welcoming service, great recommendations (rolled and folded tacos, chips, salsa and chorros. Much to much... More

We were driving from San Diego to Phoenix and decided to stop in Yuma for dinner. We wanted something local and I found this restaurant on Tripadvisor. We are so glad we stopped. VERY friendly and many locals were eating or getting take out orders. The margaritas were hand mixed and everything we ordered was delicious. Wish I lived closer... More

My wife was born and raised in Yuma and her family started coming to this restaurant in 1964. This review, therefore, is unabashedly influenced by family tradition, sentimentality, and the knowledge that if I say anything negative, I'm in big trouble. Just so you know. Karen ate here pretty much once a week for 15 years, and we now make... More

Yes, Yuma can be HOT! But the El Charro Cafe offers superb Mexican food in an historic restaurant setting. It has been family owned and operated for decades. My wife and I thought that the chips and salsa were above and beyond the usual, and my fajitas were also exceptional. It was an historic restaurant that has maintained its first-rate... More

A party of five came here for lunch while in Yuma for business. We saw many reviews raving that this was THE place to go for Mexican in Yuma and had been around forever. Maybe we had higher expectations, but this place sorely disappointed us. It was the least favorite of our Mexican meals during our three weeks in Yuma.... More
