I had read a review of this restaurant in Sunset Magazine and decided the next time I'm in Winslow I will stop and check if the reviewer got it right. Well, he did. Excellent food, I had the steak Mexican. It's a big meal, full of flavor with the red and green sauces. The atmosphere is rustic and well used... More

We were staying at La Posada and wanted to eat at another local restaurant. We foolishly took the recommendation of a person at the desk. Yikes. The service was pretty good, friendly and nice. The ambiance is typical small AZ town Mexican. The food was dismal. Really awful. Disappointing. Are you getting the drift. If you want to eat Mexican... More

Ate here for dinner after the Turquoise Room had closed. Had the Navajo tacos but would love to return for other Mexican fair. Excellent meal.

We were in Winslow last night and walked the entire town, working up an appetite for some local Mexican food. This restaurant was right across the street from our Hotel, so we thought we'd stop in, have a bite and then hit the sheets. The place was busy, so we used that as a sign that the food must be... Ate here several times traveling through this small town. Believe me this place is not upscale and fancy, but I am sure you will be satisfied with the flavor of the food and portion sizes. Yummy good and filling. Service staff are friendly and helpful. Their Mexican dishes are the best and serve REAL chili just like New Mexico chili.... More

Well, sort of -- he sat at my table quite a few years ago. The Brown Mug was very much an OK place to eat. I had the Navajo Taco (first experience with that dish) and really enjoyed it. The wait staff was very courteous and provided excellent service. This is not an upscale restaurant, but I'm not sure there... More

I ordered a four item Mexican combo and I was not disappointed. The chips and salsa were good and the salsa had a small bite to it unlike the more bland fare of chain Mexican restaurants. The plate was heaping with a taco, enchilada, tamale, and a tostada to go with the rice and beans. To top it all off... More

May not look like much from the outside but this cafe serves some of the best Mexican food I've ever had and yes the hot sauce they prepare with the chips before the meal is homemade and hot

We used TA to pick this place. It has a pretty high rank! It is NOT good Mexican food - bland and poorly prepared. Rice, beans, burrito, soup - all were lacking. This may be the circumstance where a chain, fast-food place MIGHT be better.
