Elvira's is a landmark restaurant in Tubac, and it's no wonder it continues to draw diners from all around the area. It's decor is absolutely unique, and the menu includes all kind of wonderful, different dishes. The margarita menu is extensive, and the drinks were delicious. You must take advantage of the $.50 shot of tequila available to every diner!... More

In reviewing the menu I knew that whatever I selected it would be a surprise as I didn't know what any of the "extra" stuff meant. My wife chose the flounder based on the server's recommendation, and I choose the "Fillet Sosa" - which she said was her favorite beef dish. My wife really liked her choice. Also the salsa... More

We had a reservation for 6 (recommend) and found Elivara's to be a great experience. The staff is both friendly and competent. The lighting and surroundings were interesting and a refreshing change. The food, like the restaurant, was unique and interesting. I think everyone found several options to their liking, making their final choice to order challenging. The meals were... More

We stopped in at Elvira's as we camped our way to the US/Mexico border for a week or so of warmth during our @folksblogen tour. Camping in the VW Westfalia isn't as glamorous as you might think, but I digress. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here, which commenced with the bus person losing control of her tray of water glasses... More

The decor of this restaurant is the major draw. We went on a Saturday and there was a very slim crowd (never a good sign). The food was average at best and overpriced. Portions were small and the quality was just average. Service was okay, but not outstanding.

The margaritas are really good, some excellent flavors, including honey; a blood orange and jalapeño.....wish I had not been driving, I would have had another. The moles are rich and flavorful, and varied, the chicken poached and therefore tender and juicy. Excellent side dishes as well. The servings are quite large. The interior is pretty whack, very eclectic and fun.

People rave about this place. I have been a couple of times and found it garish and over priced with soso food. My mole chicken was a Costco baked chicken with a funky sauce. Very high prices. There are much better places to eat.

We enjoyed the unusual decor with a Christmas touch at Elvira's. The service was impeccable. Our server was home from college on break and provided a special local touch. We enjoyed our upscale food with a Mexican touch. This is s wonderful place when visiting Tubac for lunch or dinner.
