A very unique restaurant with a long history

Elvira's was recommended by a family member and we ate there while in Tubac. The restaurant is very nice and the food was very good. I rated it a tad on the positive side, actually i would probably give it a 3.5, but it is very nice. The ambiance is also very unique. Give it a go, it's a keeper.

My husband had one of the specials - a complex mixture of pine nuts, apple, pears, and chicken were the stuffing for poblanos, a mild pepper; our friend reported that the white sauce mole was excellent, while I enjoyed a delicious flank steak on a bed of spinach. Decor is interesting with light reflecting from a ceiling of elongated glass... More

On the recommendation of a friend who always makes great restaurant choices, my husband and I went to Elvira's for lunch. We arrived at 1:30 PM on a Saturday afternoon. I gave my name to the hostess who said that the wait for a table would be about 20 minutes. My husband and I waited in the bar-lounge adjacent to... More

The most delicious food and environment. the place is dangling with ornaments from the ceiling and trees-it was romantic but fun.The tables gave enough room and interest so that you did not feel like you were in a perkins. AND the FOOD was amazing. we all ate different dishes and loved sharing them. I am dreaming of Elvira's Definitely worth... More

Our server was Angela, and she is a gem. I always ask for her table. The food is pretty consistent, always good. There were four of us there for lunch. Everyone was pleased with their food.

This is a non-Tex-Mex Mexican restaurant, not very crowded on a Tuesday in January for lunch. The place has a funky feel with lots of glass globs hanging from the ceiling. The margaritas were delicious, and we did not take advantage of the 50-cent tequila shots. We came especially for the moles, and were not disappointed. Especially good was the... More

My daughter had three of her high school very close friends visit this weekend. Tubac and Elvira's were one of the highlights for them. Six of us had dinner at Elvira's. At lunch you might find some more common Mexican fare, but at dinner it's more upscale. We had six different selections. Three different types of steaks, including flank and... More

This was my second time and the food was not disappointing. I had a simple salad but it was crispy fresh and obviously grown very close by. Varied color and sized greens that were delicious. The potato cheese rolled taco appetizer was good, but lacked salt and much of a distinctive flavor. Fortunately, the fresh cojito cheese and sauce added... More

The decor of Elvira's is delightful and dramatic, the service was good, but the food was overwrought. We ordered Shishito peppers and they came drenched in a soup of some sort of teriyaki sauce. Ugh. We ordered the special of the day - duck - which was quite sweet and the price was $10 more than the most expensive steak. My... More

I had a delicious lunch at Elvira's consisting of a hibiscus margarita and the quesadilla poblanos. Honestly, the flavors were absolutely fantastic. I had never tried a hibiscus margarita before, and I would drive to Tubac just for it! However, you must also try Elvira's version of the quesadilla. The sauce is fantastic, and the dish is definitely not what... More
