Very Cool ambience and great food and service .

From start to finish, Elvira's was a great place for lunch while visiting Tubac's art colony. Very fresh chips and fabulous salsa. The Taquitos de Papa were delicious, and easily shared by 2-3 people as an appetizer. I tried the Chiles Rellenos (w/Mexican sauce), rice and beans. I wanted to try a more traditional version first. The rellenos were perfect,... More

We had high hopes for this restaurant after reading reviews, but we didn't find it especially outstanding (despite very high prices for a Mexican restaurant). The decor is WAY over the top. It looks as if whoever did the decorating thought that if one would be interesting, 100 (or 500) would be really great. The menu is fairly small but... More

We expected traditional Mexican cuisine for lunch. We got a very good eating experience. The menu had five Moles. The one we had was excellent and a very generous portion the quesadilla poblanas were quite unusual. Three deep fried balls of cheese, corn, pepper in green chiles sauce were surprising and wonderful. The restaurant ceiling is covered with glass droplets,... More

We were fresh off the boat (Tucson Airport :) to both Arizona and Tubac, and the surrounding looked like a road runner cartoon or Sergio Leone movie from the 60's to us. Although, beautiful in its own way, we did not expect that way to include a gourmet restaurant. Please try the Scrimp Vallarta, I still think about it. AND... More

Not your average Mexican food. Very high quality food served. We often drive 45 minutes south to go to this restaurant. We have a favorite wait person and the hostess invariably recognizes which makes us feel all the more welcome. During the winter visitor months, make certain to make a reservation. We've never been disappointed, try their house Margarita, it... More

This restaurant was recommended by the owner of the Tubac Country Inn where we were staying. Wow! We loved it. We both had the special, 8oz, grass fed beef tenderloin with 3 large shrimp and a very tasty rice dish. It was fabulous. Wish I had this place in my neighborhood. A must go when in Tubac.

If you are looking for typical tex mex go some where else. If you are looking for a great dining experience with unique flavors and ingredients come here. This was my second meal at Elvira's and was again pleased with my meal. The staff was great although the restaurant was very busy during this visit. Great selection of top shelf... More

This is rated number 1 in TUBAC.It is not.The best is at the Tubac resort -by far. This cold, flashy, and overrated place serves overpriced ,ordinary mexican food. The service is wanting and the atmoshpere is cold and theatrical, but it doesnt make up for the so so food. Evrything is dark-so dark and hollywoodish that you cant tell that the... More
