We almost misjudged our time of arrival at Rio Mirage- Friday late afternoon and we were quickly seated at 4:30 PM, but it was crowded. When we left at 5:45 PM, the line to get in was long. We both had Taco, Burrito, Enchilada and Tostada. Combination meals, and each was excellent. The sour cream and guacamole were nice additions... More

Well, Rio Mirage Café is not south of the border, but don't let that deter you from enjoying a wonderful taste of Mexico. My family loves the food served at this restaurant. The chips are thin, crispy and hot, the salsa is just right, but if you want it hotter - they will bring it. The flavor of the rice/beans... More

I've had the same thing just about every time I come here (enchilada combination) so thought I would try something different. I opted for the Puerto Penasco (Rocky Point) Shrimp and avocado salad. Wow! I was pleasantly surprised! Flavors were bursting my taste buds. A wonderful combination of flavors. There were at least 6 HUGE shrimp in the salad. Each... More

Largest Margarita ever! Great food, great service, from the bar to the dining room. I ordered shredded beef enchiladas rancheros. EXCELLENT! My husband had a combo with ground beef enchiladas and tacos. His plate was clean. I sampled his tacos. Best I have ever eaten. Large portions and reasonable prices. My only regret is that I am just now finding... More

On a Saturday evening (5:30 pm) had a family dinner. Nice booth but slow service. (Waiter tried to be funny with dry humor.) Standard large portions of Mexican food with nothing to brag about but all good.

Dinner at the Rio Mirage Cafe was the best Mexican food we have ever had. The portions were large, enough to box up half for take home. The service was excellent. Our waiter took great care of us, even though it was very busy. The hostesses were gracious and seated us right away. The menu had a wide variety of... More

We have been going here often since the Surprise location opened. Before that, we went to the original site in El Mirage. Both restaurants serve great Mexican food. We go to Surprise now, because it is closer to home. We have never been disappointed with a meal there. They are also very service dog friendly.

Arizona should be the capitol of all Mexican Restaurants in the US. However, we do rate close to the top when you count our really high quality South of the Border style establishments. This is one of those stand outs. Want one step even further up the ladder, try Abuelo's, it is the best. But lets get back to Rio.... More
