We go to the German Cafe when we are really hungry for GOOD German food. Service is excellent. Cozy atmosphere. Possible wait.
Good food, a little pricey, with good service. Limited variety but what there is, is very good. If you have been to Germany, beware that this is regional food, so the names and the dishes may not be the same depending on where you were in Germany. If you're not sure, ask. The staff is friendly & helpful.
Firstly, the place is quaint, small, and dimly lit when the sun isn't out. 100% reminds me of the places we frequented in Bavaria. Great food, decent prices. Everything is hand-made, which is worth the extra price, in my opinion. If you want machine-formed cardboard burgers, go somewhere else, because they make everything from scratch using quality ingredients here.
My first time eating authentic German food and was not disappointed. Everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed their dishes. STaff was super friendly, helpful and quite attractive if I must say ha! Prices were decent and menu had plenty of dishes to choose from. Reuben sandwich meal was great, cole slaw and warm german potato salad were YUM! My 7... More
This small restaurant is located in a tiny strip mall next to Paul's Pub. The pork schnitzel with sides of potato pancakes (2) and spaetzel was superb. All are homemade and delicious. You can choose from many, many sides when you order a dinner. I'm sure that all of them are wonderful. Their prices are so reasonable for the quantity... More
Always eat local if you can! The German Cafe was a definite find. Off in a nondescript location you could easily miss this place (next to Paul's Pub) on Paseo San Luis. On the outside it qualifies as a hole in the wall. Inside it's small but the German food they serve was outstanding. Everything was excellent from the german... More
This town is lacking in a ton of variety of different restaurants, but ALL they need is this one. Had a perfect meal cooked well, tasted homemade and fresh. Had to wait a little to get service but there was a dilemma with there printer and needed to get others checked out first. Service was cheery, helpful and friendly when... More
Really enjoyed some home-style German cuisine. We hadn't had any since leaving Bethlehem, PA, 10 years ago. We had some bread as a starter, a dark rye swirl, and it was very good. Probably from a commercial baker, but good nonetheless. We had two differenct sausages with our entree, and we shared, so we'd get a little of both. She... More
Will have to disagree with the ratings this time. Our group was really looking forward to some great German cuisine, but came away a little disappointed, except in the dessert. Our pork dishes were overlooked and tough, and had the appearance of coming from a frozen breaded entree. Sauces were good, but certainly not as good as we experienced in... More
It is important to know that my wife and I grew-up eating classic German dishes on a regular basis and later lived in the greater Milwaukee area, which is well-known for its German cuisine. We were invited to by some friends -- first-generation German emigres -- to sample the faire at the German Cafe. They went nuts over the food,... More
