I was expecting amazing Mexican cuisine, instead I got mediocre Mexican food -- everything was drenched in sauce, or cooked with way too much embellishment, that I didn't know what I was eating, or what everything tasted like -- they are trying too hard to be authentic. I was very disappointed, and I look forward to Mexican food - especially... more

The ambiance is not great. The wait was 45 minutes, and it took 30 minutes just to get drinks at the busy bar. But the food made it all worth it. The menu was limited, but had a lamb dish, a pork dish, a chicken dish, a shrimp dish. I had encrusted red snapper (not a fish I would normally... more

I have never seen a finer presentation of Mexican food. MEXICAN??? Yes, of the ultra-chic, way upscale type of Mexican food. Great menu, great bar, great service, UNBELIEVABLE meal. Do, DO, DOOOO get the corn appetizer that is an historical re-creation. Your server will explain it to you without your having to ask. Enjoy!!! more

Having read the TripAdivsor reviews, we arrived before opening and were first in line at the door (beware the reservations are not taken). We got the best table in the establishment with good views of the the scenery outside. However, we were seated inside, not on the patio, since the weather was deemed too cold (even though there are heaters... more

My wife and I went to Elote on a Thursday night. We were told the wait was about an hour and 15 minutes so we went to the bar for some drinks and appetizers. After sitting down at the bar we met the couple to our left, owners of a local b&b and to our right, another couple who own... more

We ate at the Elote based on a couple of recommendations and our love of Mexican food. I always wanted to try authentic mexican cooking so we were looking forward to our dining experience. The cafe is a great place albeit their short hours of operation and the line waiting to get in. We got there early so we were... more

When we were told there was a 90 minute wait, I started to turn around and walk out. But, my wife talked me into having a cocktail and wait it out. Well, the Elote Martini was very tasty, and put me in a better mood to wait. When we finally got seated, the service was fine (actually pretty good considering... more

We missed our cut off and ended up at Elote at 5:15 pm on a Tuesday night. We couldn't have planned it better, we received the last available table without a wait! Everything we ate was fresh, well prepared, tasty, and beautifully presented. We liked it so much we came back for a second time during our Sedona vacation. 1st... more
