We went there when visiting Phoenix. The place came recommended by a few local people we spoke to. The food was absolutely incredible. I had the crab stuffed shrimp, while the others in my group had the whole lobster and crab legs. The waitress cracked all the shell meat and dinner was served.

After driving by this place for a year we are now driving INTO the parking lot! Hands down, the freshest, tastiest Blue Point oysters this side of the Mississippi. That, followed by perfectly seared Ahi with a bit of wine and you will have some of the best seafood in Scottsdale!

Just came out of the Salt Cellar a few minutes ago and this I know for sure, we are not coming back. Yes, the lobster was alive but it was bland. The tank where those creatures were housed was clean but there was nothing special about how they cooked it. The entire restaurant was filthy and smelled musty. My suggestion... More

Got a recommendation from a local Scottsdale lady for a few restaurants while on a flight to Phoenix. When I said that I was most interested in a good seafood place she quickly mentioned Salt Cellar. Good call. The place is quite interesting in itself being that there is only a small structure above ground and the entire restaurant is... More

Each time I have eaten here has been excellent. The Salt Cellar has been there for almost 40 years, which says something about any restaurant. We both had the halibut, which was a beautiful 8oz filet that was easily 1.5 inches thick. Although they offer to prepare the fish "blackened seasoning", I would recommend keeping it simple by grilling, served... More

I noticed that Halibut Cheeks were In Season from the emails we receive. Called and asked if I could order cheeks as an appetizer and was told of course. We arrived and went to the bar which is usually a lot if fun. The bartender was more interested in Monday football. When I ordered halibut cheeks as an appetizer he... More

My wife took me to the Salt Cellar in Scottsdale, it was our first time. Jon was our server, very knowledgeable , friendly and helpful with the menu and recommendations. The food was superb, ports were large and great value. A must visit for a nice dinner out.

Recently while on vacation in Scottsdale, we sought out an excellent seafood restaurant and followed recommendations to the Salt Cellar. When we first pulled into the parking lot we thought we were in the wrong place!! The restaurant appears tiny and shack-like from the outside but once you peer into the restaurant and downstairs you see the underground treasure that... More

This is an interesting dining experiences the restaurant is about 25ft below ground and was purpose built as a cellar in a small strip mall. The atmosphere is different and we found it OK but could understand how some could find it a bit odd. They food and service though were excellent and they specialise in seafood and it always... More

We visited our son in Scottsdale and this was a belated birthday dinner. Soooo good. I can see why it is one of his favorites. We are from Maine so are pretty spoiled when it comes to lobster but both my husband and son had clams and lobster that was delicious. The waiter was a bit confused when my husband... More
