Greasy, flavorless food with questionable cleanliness. Comfortable and nice atmosphere though...too bad.
We have eaten here several times, However on this trip it wasn't that great. The service was OK. I was sitting in a hot spot, there was a kid being a pest at the next table sliding back and forth on his chair. I ordered the sonoran enchiladas and the masa seems to be undercooked. We finally got the food... More
This place always has the best, authentic Mexican food. Great service and you always see many people you know there. It makes for a wonderful experience: good food, good friends and great service. I'll go there every time!
I have always had mixed feelings about El Charro. I am that person that pretty much orders the same thing every time. Some times the food is really good other times it's just ok. My wife and I recently paid the restaurant a visit. We haven't been in over a year and when we heard it was under new management... More
This restaurant has great food. It is small and there may be a wait but it is worth it. I had one of their specialties which was a masa bowl filled with green chile. It was excellent. Definately a favorite for the local population so if you want to experience Safford's best, give it a try. It is located in... More
Clean place, typical Mexican decor, friendly staff. I had the "street Tacos" Guadalahara in the menu and it consists of soft corn tortillas with carne asada, cilantro and onions with pico de guayo on the side. Very tasty!! My only real complaint is everything on the menu appears to be ala carte. So no beans & rice with the tacos.... More
As far as Mexican restaurants in Arizona go, El Charro was nothing special. It was a good place to stop by for anyone checking out Safford's little downtown area, however, and I prefer to avoid chains if possible while, traveling as well. While I found my main meal to be pretty standard, I will say, that El Charro had some... More
Want good quality, homemade, excellent quanity Mexican food then try the el charro in down town Stafford Arizona. There salsa looks like it is a little thin and soupy but wait until you try it, the taste will surprise you. Price is excellent especially for the quantity and quality.
Definitely, this one of the best mexican restaurant I have been in the USA. The dish I have eaten was original, with well seasoned chili meat and plenty of sauces. In addition I have tried the "avocado sauce" whose name I don't remember: good.! Finally the service was fast and the price more than proper.
Service was excellent. Decor is bright, colorful, and cheery in an older (historic?) building on a corner in downtown Safford. Beer selection is a bit limited, includes Pacifico and amber and light Dos Equis. One of my companions ate little of the chile rellenos she ordered saying they were heavily breaded and greasy. I ordered flat enchiladas with red sauce... More
