Border flavor and excellent Mexican food

A reliable establishment well suited to couples, families, or special parties. Casual dress and no need to change if just passing by looking for solid dining. Atmosphere is almost always festive if enough folks are there.

Finished 18 at the Kino Springs golf course and needed some nourishment. As we were just a little north of the border, Mexican cuisine was the natural choice. My brother recently moved to the Rio Rico area and had been mapping out the local restaurants. He suggested La Bocanita so we headed on over to check it out. When we... More

A warm family-run Mexican restaurant that is filled with locals, yet goes out of its way to welcome out-of-towners! A huge menu with reasonable prices - delicious food!

Whenever I am in the area (6 months out of the year), I keep going back to La Bocanita for the best shrimp and seafood. Although I have tried the heavier seafood dishes, I prefer and am able to order off the menu for a simple broiled shrimp with garlic. The food is consistently good and the prices equally so.... Just like in Puerto Peñasco. Fresh, clean, and at the right price. We ordered the seafood cocktails, and some fish tacos. They were awesome.

Friends took us to this restaurant and we are grateful that they shared. We had ceviche de camaraon as an appetizer that was just packed with shrimp and a spicy but not hot sauce. One of the waiters told us they bring fish weekly from Puerto Penasco a few hours south. Camarones culichi is shrimp in a rich velvety green... More

The setting is very pleasant and clean. The service was wonderful. The menu is extensive and a bit different to decipher with poor translations. We had the fish tacos and the shrimp tacos. They were tasty, but the fish and the shrimp were heavily breaded and fried, not the best. Not much actual fish or shrimp. We would like to... More

The restaurant was packed on a Monday night! And it's true that the English on the menu is not the best. We ordered what others recommended and it was some of the best seafood iVe had. I had the fish in aluminum pillow. The flavor was amazing. My husband had the shrimp patties. Wow . We also had the shrimp... More

A local recommend the place. She said they had authentic Mexican food.. and she was right. I ordered a seafood dish that came with fresh vegetables, I cleaned the plate. The food server was great at providing service.I judge a place by the experience, this place created an excellent meal and service experience

Really good food. Very friendly staff. I had the stuffed shrimp and it was excellent. My wife had the shrimp medallions and also excellent. I think fish is their expertise, but all the meals looked inviting. We also went for lunch and had the soup Decameron. Very generous on the shrimp and very good portion. Breakfests looked good but we... More
