The burgers are really great as are the home made tortilla chips. This place is a must if you're in Portal !

The store was well stocked which is great since it is the ONLY one in town. The service was okay. The restaurant was average, yet better than what I had expected.

We spent five days at the lodge, the room was very clean and nice. The perfect location in the Chiricahuas, in the middle of a unique scenery and wildlife... People running the lodge and restaurant are extremely friendly and will do their best to help you or fit to your needs. Can't wait to go there again...

This was the third time the crew at the Portal Peak Lodge and Cafe have hosted my large group (40+) for a multi-day event. They provided meals on time that were tasty and filling. Special dietary needs were accommodated without complaint. Their remote location makes fresh veggies and fruit tough to come by but they do their best to make... More

The food in the Portal store is actually pretty good. It's not anything one would call "cuisine," but it is tasty. The breakfasts are especially good. Nearly everything is $8? Some nights there is live "music" provided presumably by local folks. They play loud, and you may not recognize the songs, but they throb with rhythm, and it is an... More

The menu and the goods offered for sale are limited. This is of necessity, as the town is extremely small. The staff are super-friendly, as is everyone we encountered in Portal. We had a hearty breakfast, and enjoyed talking with the locals.

Okay but nothing special. Place has been for sale and srvice was not too great. Eating outside would have been preferable to back room where we dined. Might try it again. Maybe they had a bad day.

Not many places to choose from to eat at here. Small dining room in the back of the store where most people eat and a larger dining room after a walk through the kitchen...ouch. OK food, a bit high priced.
