Good food, variety of groceries, and friendly service.

This place is at the east entrance to the Chiricahua mountains in southeast AZ. It is the only place to get meals and groceries in the area. I had breakfast and dinner at the cafe and the food was good. The owners are very nice and have allot of knowledge of the area. And the lodge rooms were very... read more

Stayed in the lodge when looking for land to buy in the area and the beds were hard, the rooms were definitely not worth the amount of money charged but it seems to be someplace where birders stay when they come during the birding season. Food at the cafe was good.

Good meal, but, as like most American places, far too much. One pork chop is enough, not two, however tasty they are. Staff are lovely.

In this remote location visited mostly by birders, the Portal Store and Cafe is the place, and the only place, to pick up supplies and have a meal. The store stock is limited, but the cafe is surprisingly good if you stick to the basics. The green-chili cheeseburger is exceptional, and breakfasts are very good. The Mexican food is pretty... The location is close to Rodeo, NM and in beautiful Portal, AZ. The menu is very good for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The store has very limited groceries but I asked if they had bacon and although they did not, the woman went to their restaurant cook and asked if they had any. The answer was

We stopped on for lunch and enjoyed a green chile hamburger, a Reuben, and a tomato and basil panini, all served with a side salad. All three choices were quite tasty and the salads were fresh. Fast service and the cost was reasonable.

We had a lunch and a dinner here. My mushroom and swiss Panini for lunch was very good and my wife enjoyed her burger. We both had Mexican for dinner. Enchiladas not brilliant but okay for an Anglo café in the middle of nowhere.

While the food is just ok, the ambiance makes up for it several fold. Birds fly by, folks from all over the world dine on Mexican burritos, for veggie burgers, or salads, and have espresso with truly inspired deserts like peach cobbler. All while sitting on token down chairs outside, served by a great young lady server who keeps the... More

I had lunch here two days in a row while staying at Rusty's RV ranch and birding Cave Creek. Their green chili burger is outstanding. My second lunch I had the grilled chicken sandwich with swiss cheese and bacon. It was EXCELLENT. It was a BIG chicken sandwich, enough so that lunch filled me up for the rest of the... More

DH and I had the dogs (2) with us, so we were lucky it was a beautiful day. We sat outside, among the sycamore trees and bird feeders with the pups on leash. We both decided to get a panini, so we split 1 of 2 different kinds. We ordered the swiss cheese and mushroom panini and the tomato with basil... More
