Best spicy tuna roll - local gem

I am a regular here (1-3 times per month for 20 years). Food is consistently flavorful and high quality. Service is a little faster and more interactive at the sushi bar (vs. the tables) but service either place service is friendly. Nice happy hour specials. It is not a fancy place - more an... read more

We've had hand rolls, gadzilla tail(chicken strips in buffalo sauce), and Katsu chicken. I think that the Katsu chicken was best as it was tender and crispy. The ambience is okay. It's a little darker than I like.

My wife and I wanted to go to Yashi Sushi , but they happened to be closed today, so we decided to try Shogun just done the street, heard it was good . Well good if you don't have a clue what good sushi is. Absolutely awful , reminded me of a college town sushi bar with rolls with cream... More

Claims to be a Japanese restaurant, but is obviously a western imitation of that cuisine. I did not see any Asians visibly on staff, even at sushi bar. Here is a qick summary of issues with the shrimp and vegetable tempura dinners we ordered, with panko onion ring appetizer: 1. Panko onion rings took 25 minutes to serve and arrived... More

I've been going here for over 10 years and have never been disappointed. They have very fresh fish and great sushi chefs. A little daring? Don't order from the menu (although the surfer roll and the Mexican roll are to die for) but just tell the chef what your into and let them create you an amazing dish. The chefs... More

This is a pleasant, friendly restaurant. The staff is nice, and the service is pretty good. As a frequent Japanese food diner, I found the non-sushi food to be good. Miso soup was mild but tasty. The tempura and katsu dinner plates were yummy. The portions are generous. The sushi, however, is below average. There is a disappointing lack of... More

The food here was pretty good. The portions were decent size. I find them to be quite expensive especially for an area that has such a large variety of sushi restaurants. Very good service and a nice environment.

This has been a neighborhood jewel for over two decades. Daily lunch specials vary and are a great value. Service and quality of consistently prepared foods with wide variety of sushi is the trademark of this eatery. Several owners over the years yet maintain the menus and quality of the meals.

We were looking for a light dinner and decided on Japanese. Shogun was close to our hotel and convenient. We sat at the sushi bar and received quick service. The rainbow roll and yellowtail rolls were great. The fish was fresh and had good taste. The prices were also very reasonable for the quality of food. Looking forward to a... More
