Food is good, ambience not so much.

Have been here twice for lunch and both times was satisfied. Despite the fact that they never seem to have but one waitress on duty, she is able to handle the load. The decor reminds one of a basic local neighborhood seafood place either in the Pacific NW or anywhere on the east coast from Maine to Florida. Both trips... More

Decided to try this even though a fair drive from home. We were hungry for peel and eat shrimp, which for some reason, are hard to find. Started with the Clam Chowder which was only average. There wasn't much taste, the shrimp were good although lacked seasoning to make them more flavorful. The decor is cute, very nautical, but needs... More

We recently tried Taylor's Chowder House at the beginning of our tourist season. There was one wait person for 22 customers on Sunday, Nov. 1, 2015 at 12:30 PM. Then it grew to 32 customers and one waitress. We had their signature clam chowder. It was bland & without flavor. We tried their fried cod fish , with fries and... More

My son and I are seafood fans/experts and had somehow missed Taylor's in our travels. We made pigs of ourselves on: chowder, fried clams, fish and chips and raw oysters. Holy cow! Everything was fresh, hot, and we can be picky, but not this time. I wanted more fried clams but stopped myself. The server was nice and helpful. The... More

Phoenix has very few decent seafood restaurants and years ago, we found Taylor's Chowder House. The place was packed with seniors and families at almost any time we landed there. The owner was from Rochester and Boston and knew seafood as well as anyone. The New England Clam Chowder was made from scratch, full of clams with potatoes in a... More

Taylor's was recommended to us by a friend who's lived in the NW valley for many years and knows a lot of "landmark" restaurants. Upon entering for the first time, we were charmed by the unpretentious chowder-house decor, with maritime paintings and collectibles on the wall. The waitress was delightful and patient, as we were unfamiliar with the restaurant or... More
