The restaurant was recommended by a resident of Phoenix and was so good. The food was excellent as was the service and the staff. It was within 10 minutes or so from the airport and very easy to find. The next time we are in Phoenix we will go back. We were there late in the evening and had an... more

Dined there last evening. Not a great location and hard to find. Highest priced Mexican Restaurant we've encountered in entire Phoenix Metro area, and we've been to dozens! Table side guac made with 1 avocado and priced over $10.00! Dinner portions were small. One marguarita apiece and bill over $100.00 - Before tip! Service also a major disappointment. Go elsewhere! more

Been going there once or twice a year since 2003. Prices have gotten out of hand - 12.75 for a marguerita and 10.50 for guacamole dip! Portions have gotten smaller. Only 1 avacado used for guacamole dip. Small basket of chips, but 1/2 a basket remained after dip was gone! Slow roasted pork very dry and expensive! Waitress presented us... more

After hearing a few people saying "you have to go to this place, they have good Mimosas", I decided to go there for breakfast and a "mimosa". I ordered the huevos rancheros thinking they would be awesome and authentic. Wow, was I very wrong. In short, the food had no flavor (on my worse day, I can make a better... more

The location can definetely deter some visitors as area is definetly not the best but the food is worth it. No Tex-Mex here...their menu and ingredients are from southern Mexico. Their melted cheese as appetizer was great with their Mexican beers. I tried the enchiladas suizas and loved them! Definetely a place to go if you feel like true Mexican... more

I read about this place in the new Zagat's guide so I decided to give it a shot. A friend and I arrived at about 2pm and found the place mostly empty so we didn't experience the long wait that others have written about here. Our young gringo waiter didn't seem to happy to see us and I felt that... more

This is restaurant for people from out of town. If you have never been to Arizona then by all means go to this restaurant. You will get good food, okay service, a nice atmosphere and you will only get mildly overcharged. Take some pictures, show your friends when you go home and everyone will by impressed by your cute find.... more

It's true that Barrio Cafe doesn't look like much from the outside but it has a ton of personality once you step in the door. The bathrooms especially are works of art, literally, with drawings, sculptures, writings, etc pasted all over the walls. Having arrived early for dinner, we were shown to a table right away even without reservations (lucky... more
