We ate at the airport location and the food is terrible. My husband ordered the breakfast sandwich, it was two huge slices of sour dough bread. The bread was not even toasted. For a sandwich you would expect a bread that your mouth could bite into. The eggs were on top of a bed of chorizo, with no sauce. The... More

A little hole in the wall where it's all about the food and the service is great. Not your typical burritos and nachos but more similar to what you'd find in Mexico City.?it was packed early on a Sunday night with what appeared to be locals .

Taco #1: Fresh tasting, firm fried shrimp. (Non oily) Complimented by the perfectly ripe slices of avocado, with freshly chopped pico de Gallo with the jalapenos just spicy enough. Garnished with quartered limes. Taco #2: Deliciously marinated pulled pork, heavily pickled slices of onion,(tart). Taco #3: Tenderloin(carne asada), sliced cabbage, more excellent pico de Gallo, but the meat...was not good...tasted... More

If you are looking for "authentic" Mexican food, you may want to go somewhere else. This restaurant is innovative. Not the usual sides of rice and beans, but fresh veggies & smashed potatoes. The flavors were varied and interesting. The slow cooked pork was fabulous and the chocolate cake divine. This was the best meal we had on our week... More

The restaurant doesn't take reservations. We waited about 30 minutes for a table. Don't be fooled by the graffiti/art on the outside of the building......read the back of the menu for insight. The place is small, a bit crowded and loud but we only noticed when not enjoying the delicious food. Service was courteous, helpful, very professional and prompt for... More

After reading the reviews for Cafe Barrio we were somewhat disappointed in our visit. The food itself is not the traditional American-Mexican that many people are use too in the US. It is very authentic (a local in the waiting area said Mexico City, Mexico based) and the tastes are very (read VERY) different as they use very different spices.... More

We had a rather large group of 7, so had about an hour wait when we arrived around 7pm. It was completely worth the wait. Delicious guacamole with light tasty chips. And quite a variety of entrees to choose from. As other reviewers have mentioned, not you typical Mexican burrito place. More like fine dining. Options priced from $12 for... More

One of the best meals we've eaten in Phoenix (we've been down for spring training yearly for over 20 years now). Their guacamole was the best I've ever eaten (I had many servings which is unusual for me since I actually don't really like guacamole - my wife normally eats it all). The Chiles en Nogada dish was fantastic. Only... More

Barrio Cafe isa small homey type of restaurant. Not a galmouraous location, but very comfortable atmosphere - small bar area. Our group was very impressed with theChicken enchiladas and Fish tacos and Pork Tacos. It isa little mreexpensive than som might expet for Mexica, but the food is well worth it and I believe a reasonabe value. Service was attenive... More
