Bill Johnson appeared to be an old standing Phoenix restaurant. Large portions; BBQ is their specialty. Big selection. Large portions. Large dining area but not at all busy. I see they have closed. This is not surprising considering for a Friday night, they were not busy. Does not really matter what we say about them. Bill Johnson Big Apple RIP.

Driving to my in-laws in the middle of August and noticed that Bill Johnson's Big Apple is closed. So sad. They have been in business in Phoenix for a long time. Sad to see it close. Was not a close place for us to eat all the time but had eaten there several times for breakfast and lunch and even... More

Stayed overnight in Phoenix before our flight back the next day, after 2 weeks touring round. The motel front desk mentioned this restaurant and whilst it wasn't in the 'best part of town' the food was great. Not particularly busy for a Friday night, but a nice atmosphere and western decor. The waitress was friendly and service good. Plenty of... More

Grreat North High School memories... uh, from the 50s. It's still a thrill in sawdust with pistol packin babe waitresses...

As a New Yorker, when I saw the name, Naturally, I thought the menu would include a bagel and lox and pastrami on rye with an egg cream along with some southwest fare. So I was surprised to find it is really a western-style steak house. My husband and I are not big beef eaters but the small 7 oz.... More

It's not just a place to eat, it's an experience. My daughter and I went there for breakfast(later went back for lunch and dinner). I didn't need to order coffee to wake me up.The energy from our waitress(Cookie)was all I needed. Her smile and friendly voice, sent a positive energy through me. She not only took our order but gave me a... More

This definitely qualifies as one of the top 3 WORST restaurants I have had the displeasure of dining in. Now, as a country bar this place wouldn't be bad at all. But to actually bill this place as a restaurant, open early in the the day and serve food to unsuspecting people who aren't drunk, is a travesty. The "special"... More

For you musicians reading this, you will be in for a treat. At this location you will find a bar and it is much like an old west type of a bar. If you are going to be here on a Monday night from 7PM to 10PM you might want to bring your guitar or banjo or mandolin or whatever... More

This is a comfy place, but they need to declutter, bring it out of the 50's, & provide some main & side dish healthy alternatives. Ribs were tasty, so was my bbq beef sandwich - no expected cole slaw with it. Don't like sides in chintzy tinfoil tubs. We've been coming here for years, much less often as we became... More

I went back to Bill Johnson's for the first time since I lived in AZ. It was good but not as good as I remembered. Good value and good food.
