Mexican-American cuisine near ASU Downtown Phoenix

I ate here for dinner with a group of people. The menu features Mexican-American dishes. I had a chili-rubbed Sirloin steak with twice backed potatoes and spinach salad. The food was tasty and served hot. Our server was friendly but the service was slow to take our order and slow to get the food... read more

They have most of the expected Tex Mex selections on the menu, and the atmosphere is relaxing albeit a little loud, but the flair in flavors is a real wow, starting right off with the spiced tortilla chips and atypical salsa. I had a stuffed poblano that was more of an open face presentation, but the mix of sauces, vegetables... More

I am sitting here waiting for a beer...50 minutes and counting from when I walked in the door. God knows when my dinner will get here. And it's not even busy. I'm not a tough customer, but this service is the worst I've ever experienced.

stopped in here after a conference for drinks and guacamole...the drinks were excellent and the guacamole was good too. But like other reviews...the service was very slow and our waiter very inattentive.

After waiting 20 minutes after we were seated for happy hour, our server finally showed up. Once she realized we were only having drinks we saw her one other time after the 15 minutes it took her to deliver our drinks. We waited for the check for 30 minutes before having to speak with the hostess. This was our first... More

popped in after a long flight and got table quick. Server was friendly but seemed to be run off her feet. Food was good but support service was a bit slow and I ended up cancelling my second drunk. On balance worth a trip as food well beyond average

The great canyon margaritas were hand made with prickly pear syrup and cranberry juice. They were decent size all for $5. The bartender kept us in stitches. He was great! We had the taco's and the flavors were wonderful! We had shrimp, bison, poblano and chicken. We each had two but we ate a late lunch. 3 would make a... More

Service was good, but the menu is fairly small, and the food was just okay. Good size portions, but just that is was acceptable, nothing I would rave about or recommend to anyone.

I was in Phoenix back in June or July of 2014, and found the Canyon Cafe to be a great stop for dinner. On returning for another business trip I just had to try it out again. Dinner and drinks were still memorable, but the service a little lacking. In the summer, it was too hot to sit outside, and... More

Really appreciated the flavors and cuisine this menu offers. A bit difficult to find, but worth the effort. had both the bison street tacos and the fish street tacos -both were wonderful. Had table side guacamole, quiet good. Though the calamari was wonderful, we should b have skipped it - ordered too much food. Service, was excellent. I will return.
