If you don't care about the building the food is amazing

If you can get past the run down, dirty building, and limited Menu, the food is AMAZING. I had a chimi and it was probably the best I ever had. I almost gave this 5 stars, but it's not perfect because it's not cozy. It's delicious though! I will go many more times

On our family vacation to Arizona we stopped by Carolina's on the way to Flagstaff. The rental car agent suggested this place and we weren't disappointed. Bare bones exterior and interior but the food was the real deal. The Chile Relleno was excellent and flavorful. My kids said this was the best food our entire vacation. Definitely worth stopping in.

I had heard that this place was a Phoenix fixture and worth the trip. I was nearby and decided to get lunch. Parking area was packed and the building is very plain. Inside the restaurant it was very plain, tables were full and people waiting in line to order. I ordered a green chili burrito, it was delicious. I highly... More

The best Mexican food I've eaten has always been in places that look like dives. This is one of the best of that ilk. Amazing food, nice selection, really good salsa. I highly recommend it!

Great mexican food. As an American of Mexican descent, I got to say that this place is pretty darn good. Just wish they made caldo de res! But their machaca was dead on great as well as their tacos and bean and cheese burrito! Going again mañana before heading back to El Paso, TX

The place is clean but not fancy at all. The food is authentic. The hand made flour tortillas made on site are huge. We enjoyed everything we ordered, our party of three ordered a #2 and #13 with chips and 2 tortillas. We took leftovers back to the resort. Definite a place to visit if you want authentic!

I'll admit that I haven't eaten at ever Mexican food place in the world. But I've eaten at more than my share of them. I can't tell you how many times I've eaten Carolinas food. We get take out from here for birthdays at work. Everyone has loved it for the past 10+ years we've ordered food from here. Especially... More

This place was clean and the food and service was good. Not much healthy on the menu which was expected. Place was jam packed. But no Latinos were here which made me wonder.

I have been eating here for 25 years, every time I come to Phoenix. I even drive in from far east in the valley, just to eat here. The tortillas, chorizo, and hot sauce are to die for! Don't let the location or appearance influence you not to try it.

Don't expect a nice ambience. This place is old and ugly but the food makes this place a 5 star joint for Mexican food. The freshly made flour tortillas are the hall Mark of this little jewel. Carolina's is a favorite among downtown workers and can get very busy during lunch. Hang around to savor the true ambience of real... More
