When we are in the mood for classic family style AZ Mexican Food and in Payson from the Valley, we go here! Great: salsa, tamales, red sauce, Margie's, quesadilla.

We we there at 5:30 on a Saturday evening and there were already quite a few people there. Our salsa /chips and drinks came quickly but it was a 25 minute wait for our food order. The food was okay, though a little uninteresting. Flour tortillas came wrapped in foil and dried out very quickly.

1 waiter unable to keep up definitely will not go back 3rd bad experience. After waiting 30 minutes for food had to hunt down bill! If this is the best place in Payson try the Matador across from Giant on Beeline

My wife and I have eaten here several times, don't let the look from the outside of the restaurant detour you, the food is good, staff are friendly and prices are reasonable. I was pleasantly surprised to see multiple large screen TV's throughout with the Saturday evening football game on, no sound, but that was just fine. Worth a visit!

We first spotted La Sierra because we were on our way back from Tonto Natural Bridge State Park on HWY 87, and it had a wacky mis-spelling in the name painted on the building: "Restaurat." That was enough to get us to stop and try them. They serve Arizona-style Mexican food, but they haven't ventured too far from the Mexican... More

We had to try this place since the billboards said it was the best in Payson. They were right, the food was great! We really planned on going back but there was so much to see in the back country we never made it. Too bad.

Food was ok. Bland. Glad we asked for the hot salsa. Alcoholic beverages are limited. Mexican pizza is small.

We live in Phoenix AZ and have gone up to the Mogollon Rim and Payson for years, and we have always felt that there was no real good place for Mexican food...until now. We had our grandson with us for a drive in the mountains and some trout fishing. We saw a little mexican restaurant that looked out of place,... More

We have eaten at La Sierra many times and the food is always good. The restaurant is always clean and the staff is friendly. Try the shrimp wrapped in bacon or the chicken with the cream sauce. Eat in or take out. We stop by on our way home from a trip to the Phoenix area and pick up take... More
