This restaurant chain has been in Tucson for years. The atmosphere at the one on Oracle Road was much better then the strip mall front would suggest. We shared the Carne Seca which is a very dry (by design) meat dish which is their speciality and it was excellent. Ask for a sample if you aren't sure and they will... More

We loved this restaurant and the food. Not gourmet but lots of good mexican food and lots of it. Traditional mexican environment with large tables nicely spaced and a really good staff.

Extensive menu range (for a resident of a sleepy town in England), relaxing atmosphere and excellent attentive service. New experience for me.

We wanted to get some Mexican food while in Tucson at a conference. After speaking with another conference attendee who lived in the Tucson area we decided to try this local chain restaurant that has been an established Mexican restaurant in the Tucson area for many years. The margaritas we had were wonderful. We also enjoyed our food very much... More

El Charro has been in the Tucson area since the Hohokam inhabited the area. It is always a great standby to take guests from out of town that you want to impress favorably but don't want to break the bank entertaining. The atmosphere is genteel and rather upscale and often filled with white haired snowbirds. Never have I seen any... More

Between the four of us, we tried a good range of dishes at our lunch. Everyone was happy. Carne Seca would not be to everyone's taste, but it was well done and just as advertised. Ribs and tacos were also just fine. Service was good as well, and we all agreed on four stars.

It is by far the nicest Mexican restaurant in the Oro Valley area. Good service and the food is fantastic! Nice atmosphere and you can eat out on the patio to view the Push Ridge Mountain.

What can I say, this place is great. I have been here several times over the years and it just gets better and better. Their tamales are nearly the best in Tucson (sorry - tamale factory is #1).

Wow. We stumbled upon this place because it was close to our hotel. What a gem. The staff were super friendly and talking to us about the freshness and quality of the food. It certainly shows. The server told us the history of the restaurant and was I amazed. I had no idea it had national notoriety and it was... More

We were in Tucson for a week and ate at El Charro twice - it was that good. This is not your standard Tex-Mex restaurant with liquid cheese poured over everything. This is not pre-prepared food. It is carefully prepared and extremely tasty and unique. We had a shrimp burrito that was out of this world, You wait a while... More
