Based upon a recommendation from a friend from the area, my wife and I tried this location for lunch and were impressed with the quality and flavor of one of our favorite cuisines. Try the Blue Cadillac Margarita and the famous Carne Seca, a deliciously grande ½ pound portion of their World Famous Carne Seca. Dried in the Sonoran desert... More

This will be a difficult review because of what might have been a simple misunderstanding. When we arrived for lunch it wasn’t busy and it looked like only one other person was waiting. We were greeted by the host (male) and advised he would be right back. I saw this as an opportunity to quickly wash my hands before he... More

Have not been here for awhile since we have so many Mexican restaurants...Would come here more if they had lunch specials...but am reminded today how wonderful the food tastes! Absolutely the best Sonoran red sauce ever. Since 1922 they have perfected sabor!!? Will frequent more often!

Never again! This is our 4th time to an El Charro, we have been twice to this location and one time to the other two. ONLY the first time to this location was a 3.5 visit. Last night was my wife's birthday and we decided to give them a last try and boy was that a mistake. We stood at... More

We are creatures of habit, I guess. We go at happy hour, order guacamole, the tasting platter called el Grupo, and 2 of their own beers. $17 and we have tasty food, and all we need. Someday we will try something different but we have a good thing going.

We love the El Charro restaurants in Tucson. Normally, we go to the location downtown and sometimes on a slow Saturday we'll drive down from Tempe just to have a late lunch and then go back home. This week we were staying at resort up on Ina Road, so we went to the Oracle Road location. For once, a real... More

They claim to have created the chimichanga. Their regional specialty is sort of a beef jerky in tacos, burros, etc. Not my cup of tea but the other food was very good. If you are going downtown, try El Charro there as it is more historic. Service is very good which isn't common in Tucson. Recommend!

Having been to the el Charro in downtown Tucson many times, decided to give the North Oracle Road location a try for a quick lunch ...had chips & salsa & the 2 enchilada platter w/ refried beans & rice. Service, chips, enchiladas, & refried bean were excellent! Salsa was a bit watery for my taste .... Will definitely come back... More

This is one of the best restaurants in Tucson for Mexican food. When locals are looking for a delicious meal at a good price, this is where they go. The decor is charming, complete with replica advertising posters for the original El Charro Cafe, located in downtown Tucson, which opened in 1922. The "G" Burro is my favorite dish, and... More

We picked this spot based on an add in a book in our hotel room. The chips were thick and the salsa was on the watery side. I had the beef fajitas and my wife had an enchilada and tamale plate. She like hers but my fajitas were way overcooked since the onions and peppers were mushy. Chili's is better.... More
