inexpensive Mexican spot

I was here for dinner and it wasn't crowded. Soup was included and served as an appetizer (which was not mentioned on the menu) and that night was lentil soup - homemade and very tasty. I had a combo plate with a taco, enchilada, and a chile relleno. The taco shell was obviously made from one of... read more

I was wondering why there weren't any pics of the food and now know it's because it's so amazing you don't want to waste any time eating it. We both ordered combination platters and they brought out what I thought was a cheese and potato soup as an appetizer. I finished the whole bowl because it was so delicious and... More

We went here around 6pm and we should of known when we walked in that this probably isn't going to be as good as the reviews say because there was only 1 customer. The 1 waitress was busy on her cell phone but nice enough when she wasn't on her phone, recommended a couple of dishes that we ordered. While... More

I have gone to Zarape for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and always satisfied with the service and food. No matter what you pick you will be happy. The food is like your grandmas cooking(authentic Mexican food).

El Zarape serves Mexican food that I use to compare other Mexican food restaurants. Don't let the limited parking and the outside decor deter you.

El Zarape is as hometown as you can get. It is family owned and operated and all of the food is made fresh daily. The matriarch, Socorro, oversees it all and is quality control. The daily specials are delicious but it's hard to decide what to get because it is all great and served up fast and cheerfully. There is... More

Another Nogales favorite for both breakfast and lunch - car park always busy. Centrally located it becomes a meeting place for locals to do business. Food is home cooked with large portions - free refills on sodas. Friendly service though hesitant to offer suggestions -

If you're into Menudo, that served at El Zarape is the very best! They have other offerings such as Tacos Dorados, refried beans, etc., but it is their Menudo that brings us back on a frequent basis. Parking is somewhat limited, so we often bring a gallon jug and take home the savory soup. What we don't eat right away... More

Super brunch last Sunday at El Zarape. Authentic Mexican Eggs Ranchero, Menudo, and Chorizo. All served by he friendliest staff and a family run restaurant to boot. Reasonable prices and Sonoran atmosphere, but get here early as the tables fill up fast!

Whenever we are in Nogales, Az. we have to stop here. We've been eating here since they opened in 1993. My favorite meal there is breakfast, but this time it was lunch. It is the best authentic food you can get without crossing the border. The flour tortillas are delicious, and you can even purchase them by the pack to... More
