Great Place

The owner is the ONLY cook. So, yes your food may take a while to get to the table but it is worth it. And yes, maybe if you are used to eating arroz con pollo then the prices may seem expensive, but the food here is much better than the towny places that exclusively serve rice and meat. You would think, based on the reviews before us, that the owner is rude. But, REALLY, it is uncanny how rude she is. We hadn't read TripAdvisor reviews beforehand, but had we, we would have understood. Rant after rant. Perhaps that is why her restaurant isn't doing a great business? You think? Must be coffee as good somewhere else. Find... More

My boyfriend and I were looking for a great cup of coffee... the cafe advertised just that... once inside we were met by the rudest woman we've ever met. She wouldn't let us sit outside, snapped at me when I asked for a guidebook and wifi. She also tried to force us into eating. Stay away!

My wife and I stopped in the other day for a coffee and a snack.....Big mistake! While waiting for coffee, the owner came out to rant for 20 minutes about how terrible it is that she is doing such poor business. It seems to her that U.S. retirees should not come to her restaurant because they can't afford it. Since... More

Stopped in for lunch, had a ham and cheese sandwich and a smoothie drink Ther was one other person having lunch on the day I was in and when I asked for a type of smoothie and was told it wasn't a good smoothie you should order this one, I said ok and when the other persons order came out... More

It's a nice looking place but as soon as you walk in your greeted with a spiel about how good the coffee and bread is, which is okay to say but very in your face. The Sandwhich I ordered was really good but when I looked to see what veggies were in it, the owner told me there was no... More

The sandwiches and cappuccino in this small cafe were delicious. The group I was with had the turkey and cheese, ham and cheese and the vegetarian sandwiches. All were very tasty. Great artwork on the wall and just 1 block from the main town square. Also has some books for sale. I went back a couple of times for the... More

When traveling in Ecuador I stopped here for breakfast. Owner was very kind and takes pride in her food and coffee. Had an excellent breakfast and they advertise best coffee around. I have to agree it was probably the best coffee I had in all of Ecuador. Also had a smoothie which was excellent. Owner takes great pride in her... More

Coffee was okay; Chai was not good. Service was super slow and the owner was quite rude and abrasive. Seemed to be pretty upset that our big group would come in a few times a day to give her business. Strange experience indeed.

You dont go here for 'just' something fast and cheap. In Ali Cumba you get quality AND in quantity. Yes this means you pay a bit more and have to wait a bit longer for this. The restaurant itself has a good vibe and the music made the wait enjoyable. Portions are big and it all tastes amazing and fresh.... More
