Better Options with Nicer Service

Ducked into this cafe for a nice cup of coffee. Coffee was good but a little overpriced. What was striking to us was the lack of service and the coldness of the owner. Id rather be in a more welcoming establishment. If you feel the same I'd recommend trying any of the other cafes in town.

Stopped in one evening this past week for a coffee, and wow what a terrible experience all around. I haven't written many reviews but I feel so compelled to write about how horrible our visit was at Cafe Ali Cumba. We were immediately met by the cafe owner, who was condescending and pushy. She greeted us in a very awkward... More

We came in looking for coffee. When we ordered coffee, the owner said: "What about food, the sign said coffee and food, what food do you want?" We basically were bullied into buying her danish bread because she "spent all morning making it and she deserves to be paid". After getting our drinks she asked politely " how did you... More

There are many good places to eat in banos and I highly recommend avoiding this one. I am all for Smalltalk, especially when it comes to meeting locals. But this was a whole different level of Smalltalk. The woman Talked to us us for 15 minutes before even handing us our menu. Throughout the duration of breakfast she continued to... More

We only had coffee and cake, but next time I would happily try the sandwiches, because they looked good. The place is very cute and gas both tables with chairs and a seating area with couches. Nice. She's Danish, he's from Ecuador.

This place was just down the block from my accommodations. It has a very inviting exterior. I was crashing and needed to good bite to eat, so in I went. The entire place is charming, with excellent ambiance, as well as the exterior garden patio. BUT. The menu was very limited. I chose a sandwich and a smoothie. BUT (again)... More

Although I can't remember the exact words, painted on the wall outside of this cafe are the words coffee shop, pastries, and the like, giving someone the impression that they could get a cup of coffee there. So, eager for a caffeine fix, my daughter and I entered the relatively empty cafe wherein the Danish host offered us menus. When... More

We were finding that most places were closed, so we stumbled into this one. The chef/server was friendly, and the sandwiches sounded ok. But at $8 for a turkey and cheese sandwich, I was skeptical. (The average dinner is $8 in Banos). The sand which was on nice crunchy French bread, and that's about the only thing I can say... More

My friend and I went in looking for a breakfast place. After seeing the menu, which seemed great, but a bit pricey for what we wanted to pay, we decided on only having coffee. When the lady (owner?) asked for our order and we told her, she seemed exasperated that we only wanted coffee. She went on about the bread... More

This is an amazing place in the heart of Banos. It's owned by a lovely couple, and i come here daily for their amazing food, coffee, and smoothies. I highly recommend the tuna sandwiches. I can't get enough of them. Everything here is first rate and I cannot recommend it highly enough.
