This was always our favorite restaurant in Banos with delicious food, especially the steak au poivre. IT appears to have a new owner and the service was very slow. Although the sauce was still good, the steak was tough and overdone. The famous potatoes were not crispy as they had been

We were recommended this place by our hotel. It's down an alley in a garden area that's possibly quite nice in the sunshine. The restaurant is "cosy" but needs a bit of 'spit & polish'. The menu's supposed to be French, albeit with a local touch. The garlic bread was poor. They didn't have 2 of the drinks on the... More

Good ambience and fairly good entrees spoilt by total lack of attention after main course. We were one of two parties in the restaurant. Had to make our own place settings and no water offered. Asked for the bill and left after waiting for some time. We had decided on desserts and coffee. Their loss.

First evening in Banos and thought we would give Cafe Mariane a try. Whilst the initial impression was welcoming and the main courses fairly good there was absolutely no follow up re dessert or coffee. We (party of four) who were just one of two groups eating gave up on getting any further service asked for the bill and left... More

We went on Valentines Day for lunch, they presented us a with a rose each. We ordered lunch then minutes later a group of about 15 elderley Americans arrived, they muct have pre-ordered because their food arrived first which meant we waited nearly an hour for our meal. The waitress was helpful with my request for food without gluten, but... More

Three of us went for dinner here looking forward to the French Onion soup for days-only to be told they were out of french onion soup!!! Despite that disappointment we each ordered a steak with a different preparation and shared. They were all good. The portions were HUGE and the side vegetables and potatoes au gratin were excellent as well.... More

For a a splurge by Ecudadorian standards--steaks in a beautiful courtyard setting. Look for the B&B and the restaurant is down the side courtyard..

This cosy restaurant had good service, great atmosphere and the food was excellent. We had the beef fondue, which was a fun dining experience and the side dishes were generous and delicious. Highly recommended.
