Good place to eat

Good place to eat. The price is comparable to the other eateries on the street and around El Calafate. The carrot spread they serve with the bread was extremely nice. They charge for bread if you eat it, which happens in a lot of places in Argentina though, but the price here is like 22 A$ which... read more

Our entrees arrived within 10 minutes of each other and our main courses never arrived. We left hungry and annoyed that they didn't even care!

We were tired and just chose the place at random as we needed to eat after a long day traveling. We had grilled chicken and lamb pie. The food was adequate but lacking in flavour, a bit basic

We arrived on this restaurant around 11PM after a day hiking. The staff was very polite, considerate and available to help us as much as they could. Their trout and lamb were good, but they should have more vegetable options, even though pumpkin is all we can see as a vegetable here at El Calafate lol. Reasonable price, they accept... More

Last night in El Calafate, coming in from Glacier at 9pm, Wife was not too hungry so she ordered soup - Pumkin, and I ordered Beef, Mushroom (black and white varieties), bacon, egg, onions, potato slices, lettuce and tomato. Good generous serving and was very appealing and tasty although a bit fatty (personal taste). Good service, nice setting on main... More

Nobody from the chef to the waitstaff wants to be at Vera Cruz. This is evident in the food offered and the indifference displayed to the customers.

Just 2 hours ago i had the worst diner in my whole life. First of all the service is very unfriendly. Second some bread was served - old bread tasting like paper. I ordered the pasta bolognese and cheese and my fellow the chicken with fries. What can i say: the pasta came i a bowl half full with water,... More

Shortly after arriving in El Calafte, we wandered along Ave Libertador, the town’s main street, looking for somewhere to have lunch. The cosy appearance of the Vera Cruz looked inviting. Venturing inside, we were promptly greeted and seated. Given the ambience, we anticipated a good home style meal. After ordering the daily special, lasagne, together with a side salad of... More

Bread basket had 2 pieces of somewhat fresh bread, the remainder was stale. Makes me wonder if it was at someone else's table before it was placed on ours. Odd that you have to pay extra to have plain tomato sauce on your lasagna??? No fresh cheese...packets of processed cheese. Food had no presentation. Service staff completely indifferent to your... My daughter ordered the fettucini with cream sauce. She was delivered a bowl of fettucini (they got that right) in a yellow soup with 2 individual packets of cheese to add. Really bad and tasteless. Somewhat stale white bread also. The grilled lamb was pretty good, really generous portions so that we asked to take out the rest. They delivered... More
