Excellent food in El Calafate that is just a little bit out from the center of town but provides a less meat oriented, creative meal. My stuffed pumpkin was delicious, my wife's vegetable lasagna was among the best lasagna's we have had, with or without meat.

This restuarant was recommended in our lonely planet, teamed with the great reviews on tripadvisor we HAD to try it. The restaurant is on the other side of the main strip. The place is a stand alone. The decor inside is quirky. The service was warm and friendly. We had the lamb empanadas which were sooooooooooooooo scrummy! polished within minutes.... More

After one over-priced sub-par meal in El Calafate, we were determined to find an affordable and delicious meal. Pura Vida impressed us with kind staff, reasonable prices, affordable wine list and scrumptious meals. The portions are large and filling, great for a dinner after hiking. Go here!

I found the idea of Lamb Pie highly suspicious, and but the stuff I had at Pura Vida shut my mouth pretty fast. What I like to call my Patagonian shepherd’s pie had a crust of silky sweet potato and a gamey filling with a mix of crumbly ground lamb and small slices of eggplant. My bread was tragically undercooked,... More

In general, we have not been that impressed by the food in El Calafate. However, Pura Vida was an exception. The homemade bread is a delicious start to each meal and the vegetarian lasagna that I had was exceptional. This is one instance where the guide book was spot on! Also, we arrived around 8:15pm and had no trouble getting... More

We very much enjoyed our experience at Pura Vida. They specialize in vegetarian and Argentine food. The food was excellent and the atmosphere was interesting.

Pira Vidal was recommended to us by our hotel. We were not disappointed. One of us had a great lamb stew with a baked crust. The other had a chicken pie. Both dishes were outstanding and a welcome change from the parilla menus around town. The wine choices were varied. Friends we were with raved about the bottle that they... More

Enjoyed a really tasty meal here. I had the pumkin main dish which was delicious and my husband had the lamb pie which he really enjoyed. The place has a modern, funky atmosphere. Service a little slow and our waitress was a little surly, but it didn´t detract from our evening. Do check your bill though as they had charged... More

The lamb stew lives up to its hype. It comes served in a ceramic dish with a pastry lid cooked just right - not too crisp or soft and chewy. Meals are served with a fresh baked dense bread roll with herb mayonnaise, a really nice contrast to the small cold rolls you expect. Service was excellent and the waitress... More

LP syas bok ahead, so we tried yesterday, but our hotel said Pura Vida takes no reservations. So we rolled up at 8.00 pm and found the place almost full, but were refused because the proprietor had reserved the empty tables for a pre-booked group. Either this place tskes reservastiosn, or it doesn't! Tonight we went early and were first... More
