The food was good. It is a large, white table cloth restaurant. I ordered waldorf salad and it was delicious, simply apple, celery, walnuts and cream. My husband had a mixed salad with beets, avocado, corn and tomato and lettuce that he really enjoyed. However, please note that these salads are big enough to share - too much for one... More

Finding a tender, medium rare steak has been a challenge in Argentina. Our first night in Salta and we found it! Our Spanish is very limited and our waiter's English was limited. However, he understood what we wanted and set us up with a parrilla that had 3 different types of steaks. He said it was plenty for the four... More

We have been in Argentina for 10 days, and in Salta for 1 day. We had been told of the great beef in Argentina, and we're disappointed until we got to Salta. We had the parilla especial, which included filet, sirloin, and ribs. The meat was jugoso "juicy" and prepared to perfection. Our waiter suggested it and was amazing with... More

We went here twice - the first time we were with a large group and the service was great - I had the mixed grill and it was great. The second night the steak was good, but not quite as good as the first night and the service was mixed. The waiter seemed annoyed that we could not finish the... More

We visited El Charrua a couple of times during a weeks stay in Salta, and what a great place to stop for lunch. Really tasty steak, good salads and lovely deserts. Get the lunch special and you won't go hungry. Some of the best meat we ate during our time in Argentina!

Let me start by saying I didn't get the steak here, so maybe that's phenomenal. But the humita sure wasn't - pretty dry and flavorless - and the salad I ordered was pretty sad. So maybe I ordered wrong. But the bread was also pretty sad, and the service was mediocre at best. I'd go to Dona Salta instead if... More

We came to Charrua because of the good recommendations on trip advisor. We were completely disappointed and felt forced to leave the restaurant before our first dish was served. If you don't speak Spanish very well, you are treated like a customer of 2nd class. As we had to translate several Spanish words in our dictionary, we took a few... More

My wife and I have been staying in Salta for a month and using it as our base for traveling around northwestern Argentina. We have dined at El Charrua several times during our visit here. It is located just a few blocks form the main plaza. The menu offers several choices -- meats, salads, pastas, desserts. The portions, as in... More

We had a quality affordable meal at this parrilla. The steaks were so huge we split one and a salad and felt more than full. The mixed meat platters looked delicious for a bigger group. The decor and wine were well done, making it feel like a fancy restaurant, but the bill was less than many lunch spots around town.
