Great Pours

Food was good. I had a steak, which seem to always be good in Argentina. Most memorable was the pour of a scotch on the rocks. Server brought a new bottle and an old bottle with a little left in it. She proceeded to pour a shot and a little more from the new bottle and then empty the old... read more

Visitng twice during our stay in Salta, this restaurant was recommended by LP & was just down the road from our hotel. We ordered one steak - as portions were big - it was more than enough for us. The restaurant was busy - lots of locals - a good sign. Staff very pleasant & helpful

We really enjoyed our dinner at El Charrua! The prices are good and the food really delicious! Each of us ordered a piece of meat (half a portion is enough!!) and a sidedish. One piece of meat was a little dry but thats the only negative part. Nice atmosphere!

Across Salta, Mendoza, Patagonia, and Buenos Aires, this was the best steak I had. Note that there are 2 restaurants with the same name (and our hotel sent us to the wrong one at first), but the pictures and address on this site are right, so make sure you go there. I had the rib eye cooked perfectly medium rare,... More

In Salta you’ll find the true heart and soul of Argentine cuisine. My wife and I have lived in Buenos Aires for the past eight months, and while we’ve had some very good meals here, we’ve also discovered that it’s difficult to find dishes with true depth of flavor. Not so in Salta, and certainly not so at El Charrua.... More

We ate at this restaurant twice during our stay in Salta. Both times the staff were friendly and efficient, and the food was excellent. It's obviously popular with the locals and the traditional food we'd wanted to try (locra, humita and tamale) was all extremely good, and portions were large. On the second visit we had steak and lasagne, and... More

This is just about the cleanest and most upmarket restaurant we walked past during our 4 days in Salta. The only downside was that none of the waiters seemed to know more than 3 words of English. Every question we put to them was answered by “Yes” or “No problem”, but the actions that followed indicated that they had not... More

I went alone to this place and its always weird to go out to dinner by yourself, but this place was just great. bife de chorizo (500 grams, 140 pesos) was phenomenal. sweet, juicy, tender. just perfect. had a salad and a big beer as a side dish. perfection! service was also very good. 5 stars!

After a long trip to arrive to this lovely city, this was our first restaurant in Salta. The service is absolutely fantastic as well as the parillas and pescados. The space is very pleasant and comfortable. We do recommend!

Impossible to describe. Let me start with the fact that I am a steak entusiast! 125 pesos (10USD) for 4-500 grams of Ojo de Bife (Rib Eye), which was beautifully served on a hot stone. It was perfectly cooked (medium rare as I ordered). Wine is local and prices goes from 2USD (yes 2USD) for a house wine and up... More
