We came to Charrua because of the good recommendations on trip advisor. We were completely disappointed and felt forced to leave the restaurant before our first dish was served. If you don't speak Spanish very well, you are treated like a customer of 2nd class. As we had to translate several Spanish words in our dictionary, we took a few... More

My wife and I have been staying in Salta for a month and using it as our base for traveling around northwestern Argentina. We have dined at El Charrua several times during our visit here. It is located just a few blocks form the main plaza. The menu offers several choices -- meats, salads, pastas, desserts. The portions, as in... More

We had a quality affordable meal at this parrilla. The steaks were so huge we split one and a salad and felt more than full. The mixed meat platters looked delicious for a bigger group. The decor and wine were well done, making it feel like a fancy restaurant, but the bill was less than many lunch spots around town.

My husbands steak was great - as was mine. My daughters was Inedible, when we mentioned it there was no apology etc. disappointing.

This was probably one of my best bite de lomo. Filet mignon on a hot stone, fantastic. When we went back a second time there was a lost in translation moment and I did not get 'my' bite de lomo on a hot stone. No problem they took it back and served a new one, as per order.

We eat here the first evening in Salta, and we found it can't get any better so we got there each evening after that and did not regret it. The restaurant - as almost all of them - opens late in the evening but it fills up quite soon after opening. Service was very friendly and they have been pleased... More

We had dinner here on 2 nights whilst in Salta and absolutely loved it! The prices are very reasonable - an escalope with chips cost 65pesos (promo deal) - and the food is delicious! My husband tried the entrocote charira (90pesos) which was superb. We loved the atmosphere and loved our free shot at the end!

We ate here yesterday and had a nice dinner. The atmosphere is not outstanding since it is a big place but it's ok. The staff is very friendly and fast. We ordered the mixed grill and that was a nice surprise. The meat was really good although it had some pieces we didn't know and where not really tasty but... More

This parilla only a few blocks away from the central plaza is a must for all who love to eat meat. We had a lomo bife which was beyond perfect. The meat tastes like buttered and has nearly no fat. Also the ensaladas are wonderful, for example the Walldorf with creamy apples. The atmosphere and the staff are decent and... More

Went the first night and were blown away by the quality of the meat (steaks and cabrito al horno). We returned the second night and it was excellent again. Finally a fantastic steak house, which is by no means an easy find in Argentina (we were often underwhelmed) - sounds bizarre, but as they switch more land from cattle to... More
