Loved everything - unique and great value

A courtyard setting with a big open BBQ going on - add to that sublime steaks (the best and cheapest I had in Argentina), good value red wine, simple service - and then add again the casual atmosphere with music being played from the locals from just where they were having dinner amongst us... read more

My mother is Argentine, so I grew up with folk songs and lore from the region. When we got to La Casona, we were greeted by a gentleman playing a guitar and singing all the familiar tunes, selling CDs. He was obviously hired to be there, but sang beautifully, and even broke into a birthday song for me when the... More

We did not make a reservation and fortunately we were quite early, 7.30pm, because we had one of the last 2 free tables. Everything else was full. A full, crowded, but nice place. We sat in the first courtyard, the one closest to the entrance. This courtyard was cosier and smaller than the other one. On our courtyard there was... More

Amazing! We had had dinner in a vegetarian restaurant before and the waiter in the restaurant recommended coming here for a few drinks after. What a great suggestion! we ended up having a second supper of lots of meat, the best humita we had ever tried and delicious wine! Staff were great, the atmosphere was fantastic and very authentic feel.... More

We ate here every night we were in Salta, as we figured we'd found the best restaurant. The service is very good, food is wonderful, and it's a pleasant environment.

Music everywhere and locals singing along! A friend who's from Salta took me to this place and I'm so happy she did!

We love this place! If only every town had its own Casona del Molino! This is an authentic peña that is a 15 minute taxi ride out of town, but well worth the drive. The music doesn´t start until late (after 11pm) but the tables fill up FAST (by 10pm you will have to sit outside). We went here 3... More

There is nothing to say more than what has already been said. However, I'll tell you a little bit about this place. Away from the main st where all the Restaurants (or peñas, as they´re called) are located, La Casona del Molino has more than one reason why you should get out of the "touristic" area and comer here. Food... More

One of the best argentinian restaurants. wonderful food and amazing live local music that starts late but is worth hanging around for. Is a little way out of town so get a taxi.
