A great value for money Mexican food

I live in Amsterdam, and The Mexican is one of my favorite places where I can eat a good prepared, with a great value for money Mexican food. The crew is friendly and the service is fast so don't count on sitting more than an hour or hour and a half there. Also it is located next to Dam Square,... read more

I go here often. Way too often. A must-have is to order a side of warm baja sauce to have with your chips. It's jalapeno cream cheese, and it's addicting. I'm a vegetarian, they have great veggie tacos, cheese crisp is good, and they have the best green corn tamales, which are a little bit sweet. And the green corn... More

If you go into any of the Macayo restaurants you'll love the atmosphere, the wait staff and especially the food. Macayo's has been a staple for Phoenicians for years. The Mexican food is "sonoran" style and ever so tasty too. Make sure to have a cheese crisp and save room for the sopopilla's YUMMY to the core.

To bypass waiting for seating in the main dining area downstairs, go upstairs for immediate seating. A good value, if you like Margaritas, is when you order a shot of tequila to go with it it's only a dollar. For families and the young at heart, there is a very talented ballon figure maker that works for tips only. Very... More

I used to frequent this Macayo’s many years ago, and it had a great happy hour, but I had not been here for a few years. I saw a coupon in the newspaper, so I decided to take my wife here for dinner. We went on a Friday night and had to wait about 10 minutes to get a table.... More

This was by far the worst Mexican food I have ever had in my life. Taco Bell taste better and more authentic. I had to ask our waiter four times for lemon for my water and I think he messed up every one of our orders. There was nothing on the menu that I recognized from any other Mexican restaurant... More

We ate at Macayo's after a round of golf. The food was good, but it wasn't anything out of the ordinary! You won't be disappointed if you are expecting standard mexican food. The atmosphere was really cool though, and they had a great outdoor patio. It was a good spot for us to have a couple beers and dinner after... More

One of many Macayo's restaurant locations in the Phoenix area. This one has a nice location because it backs onto a small residential waterway, so outdoor eating on the terrace is nice. The carnitas were just OK, but not as flavorful as they could be. The enchiladas were good but not great. They claim to have invented the chimichanga, but... More
