Revisit of Bavaria for us

First, we finally realized that they open at 4 PM and are closed on Sundays. We arrived close to 4 and were seated immediately. However, as time passed, the wait time grew ... I don't believe they take reservations (a larger dining room would be a plus.) The beer on tap is wunderbar! Order the... read more

My wife and I ordered the daily special (Smoked sausage and kraut) with bratkartoffeln (fried potato with onions/bacon) and the Jaeger Schnitzel with red cabbage. Everything was very good... and the Schnitzel tonight was excellent.... very tender, lightly breaded but not greasy, and the brown mushroom gravy was perfect. The daily special was $8.50 and the Schnitzel $12.50.... both bargains!... More

Soft accordion music, only German adult beverages and waitress with dialect, almost Germany but not quite! Wienerscnitzel is pork which is ample size, tender and evidently deep fried. Cabbage and Sauerkraut were similar too that eaten in Germany. Potato salad is served hot. Overall enjoyable and satisfying. Recommend knowing it is definitely different flavor.

There are slim pickings for German restaurants in Phoenix. Zur-Kate is a small restaurant tucked away in a strip mall in east Mesa. We took my step-dad,( who is German) there for dinner one night, since he was missing German cooking. My dad and I ordered the schnitzel. Be aware that this is pork schnitzel, there is no veal choice.... More

This restaurant had excellent food, friendly and prompt service and wonderful music while we enjoyed our meal and our company. The wiener schnitzel was THE best. The red cabbage was to die for and the warm apple strudel left you drooling!! The prices were very reasonable. The accordion player was just awesome. We cannot wait to return.

When I arrive at 5 PM and the restaurant was already full I was thinking that the restaurant must have a very good cuisine to offer for being so popular. But was not the case. My score from 1 to 10 being the 10 the best and 1 the worst is the following: Ice tea : 4 Bread : 6... More

The first time I ate at Zur Kate was in the 80's and it was amazing. I found myself in deepest, darkest Mesa and looked up the little place to see if it was still as good. Its not. Now it caters to senior citizen, early bird diners and the bland, everything tastes the same, menu reflects that. Prices were... More

This little German restaurant in east Mesa is huge on satisfied guests. Every time I have ate here I go away full and satisfied. I do not drink but lots there consumed the REAL German beer. I highly recommend this place when you want to eat something other than what you get at chain restaurants. They are only open 4-10pm... More
