I went to Azafran for a birthday lunch. They waiter heard it was my birthday and offered any dessert on the menu, however, the dessert on the fixed menu sounded so good we kept that one. The food for the fixed menu was extremely delicious, perhaps the best empanadas I ever had, and I lived in Argentina for six months.... More

We visited Azafran twice during our stay in Mendoza, once for dinner and once for lunch. We arrived very late and hungry in Mendoza and our hotel receptionist recommended Azafran. We were not disappointed! We started with empanadas for entree and for dinner I had the chicken and my husband had the fish. We both really enjoyed the empanadas and... More

We had dinner at aZafran our first night in Mendoza. An easy walk from our hotel, we ate at a table on the street and enjoyed the traditional parrilla dinner. Great wine selections--both red and white. The dinner was excellent with good service. There were tables in side beside a large wine room. They also have some items on sale... More

We were drawn to this restaurant because it was in the neighborhood of our hotel, written up in Lonely Planet and also mentioned by some people we met at dinner the night before. It does have a rustic-chic decor and we were initially quite pleased, but as the evening progressed, our initial good vibes waned. The meal started out with... More

We popped in for lunch & had a most wonderful meal. Breads were warm & fresh. We had a pork roast lunch with mashed potatoes & salad in a lovely presentation. The roast was fork tender (a relief after all those parrilladas), the appetizer of beet & watercress was so inventive and good tasting. Little side table for our wine... More

This restaurant is very popular, has great food, and its own sommelier who will give you a lengthy consultation about which wine goes with which food! It's very classy -- one of the nicest in town.

What a fantastic restaurant. The service was exceptional. The cellar of wine fantastico. The food outstanding. Do not hesitate to go, but do book ahead of time. Price was reasonable.

We ate at Azafran after several days of incredible eating and drinking in Mendoza. We were barely hungry so couldn't manage much more than a salad and ceviche, which was a shame. Both dishes were wonderful. Azafran had a great menu and beautiful presentation. The lovely selection of breads seemed to have been made in-house (I saw them being taken... More

The meal was really good. The recommended wines were good, but not exceptional - the price was not too much - maybe they should get a few more higher priced wines. However, what really made this not a great experience was the service - actually quite poor. Had to pour our own wine and very hard to get them to... More
