Love The Ambience

When you arrive you're welcomed by the huge buildings of a traditional winery in the middle of the town, this is nice. The reception has a cool looking bar where one can wait und sip a drink until the table is ready. Its a busy restaurant with lots of waiters and no one really seems to be... read more

Lovely courtyard setting and service pretty good although we were ensconced in a corner of non Spanish speakers (despite the fact we both speak pretty good Spanish). Asked for a glass of the only house white pre dinner to be told there was none chilled - honestly? In a region famed for its wines? Not a good sign. Starters were... More

From the warm greeting upon arrival to the lovely courtyard to the superb food and service, this was a great evening out. The former winery building has been beautifully renovated, and the ambiance is warm and inviting. the staff were professional but pleasant and not hovering. The food was delicious: we had the 7 1/2 hour lamb and a grilled... More

1884 feels like the best of both worlds - the service was impeccable, down to the welcome glass of champagne and the team of people taking care of our table, and then the food was rustic and hearty and totally un-fussy. It's a wonderful experience to eat the best wood-fired pizza you've ever tasted, on a white tablecloth and with... More

First of all I must say that the restaurant has good ambiance with a great outdoor section. The service was adequate and our server was helpful, I do think they must of had some trainees that night as they did not seem to know what to do? Now the food from a chefs prospective was very average, I was not... More

If you come in the Summer, try to get a table inside. It's super hot! The food is ok but typical Argentina, meat and potatoes, but the ambiance and decor are part of the experience.

Overall, we had a fantastic experience. This was the first place that most people (local and otherwise) mentioned at the outset of any conversation about local restaurants. The other restaurants that we tried, including Azafran, Ocho Cepas, Bistro M, were all very good, but this was probably the best of the group. It was pricier than the others and much... More

We had been looking forward to this highly recommended restaurant. Our advice is don't bother. No one welcomed us, although you need reservations. Much hyped and a beautiful, stage like setting but the food is mediocre, the wait staff very indifferent. No one ever inquired if our meals were to our satisfaction. The wait staff said nothing after ordering and... More

We were so excited about this restaurant because of it's previous awards but it turned out to be the worst meal of our entire vacation. Service was terrible too. First, if you have security at the entrance, the least they could do is point you in the right direction. We went the wrong way then were admonished for trying to... More

Not sure why this isn't ranked higher. Such a beautiful restaurant and the food is delicious. Need reservations, must do in Mendoza!
