GOOD PLACE TO REST AND EAT AFTER THE FLEA MARKET

I visited this resto for the second time in three years. Still excellent. It overlooks the Plaza Dorrego (market). Very good food and wine. Very Italian. Makes a change from all that steak !!! Prices seem reasonable.

Had so many positive reviews, we arrived very hungry and very excited. The owner, chef and host greeted us warmly which set a positive tone... Then everything else went down hill from there. Our waitress was cold, sloppy and inattentive and The food was mediocre. Luckily there was live music in th me square thy helped the ambiance, but other... More

This place is way better than the reviews. We had the simple spaghetti arabiata and fish of the day. They were excellent. I knew this place would be good, but didn't expect it to be the best Italian restaurant experience we've had so far in buenos Aires. We also managed to get a seat on the balcony – super romantic.... A surprisingly good restaurant given its location in the middle of a very tourist area, also very reasonably priced. The view from the balcony is charming. The spaghetti arrabiata was really, really good.

Went for a Sunday lunch with the market in full swing outside. Shared an excellent salad starter and had two delicious pasta dishes. Service from young local girls who spoke neither English nor Italian. None of the first four bottles of wine we ordered were available, all from Mendoza and by no means exotic. The fifth bottle was at high... More

This is a restaurant with a strong local following. It was recommended to us by a boutique hotel at which we were staying and by an elderly Porteño who had given us a guided tour of the city. It sits right across the street from the plaza in San Telmo where the crafts market is on weekends and where dancers... More

Came for lunch. Maybe it's a better dinner restaurant? My penne with shrimp in tomato sauce was decent, but had no chilli as the menu described. My partners pasta of shrimp with zucchini in white wine sauce was tasteless. Our server was very nice.

We went to the restaurant for lunch in a sunny Sunday when the square in front was crowded! It was a great surprise finding this place so quiet and nice in the middle of the street agitation. We could have our meal slowly and quietly. The dishes were very good. My husband asked for a spaghetti allarabiata and I had... More

Had just landed in BA with a colleague after a 10 + hour flight from the US - stretched our legs with a bit of a walk in San Telmo and then scored an outdoor table at this little spot overlooking San Telmo. I am generally not an Italian fan, but I would most definitely return to this gem. The... More

Staying in San Telmo

Neighborhood Profile
San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.
