This place is like any argentinian "pulperia" a place where they attract foreigners (and some snobby retired people) showing they are super traditional, which is good when you want to know the culinary culture of the country you are visiting. But it tries to sum that up with beeing cool (not exactly the description of argentinian people) so they can... More

... and quick service, a professional staff, as well as with quite a variety of seating options to choose from (outside, inside with many barstools as well as more traditional *inside* seating in the interior sunroom/closed courtyard). The ensalada was fresh, tasty, crunchy (in a good way!). Worth your visit.

They offer all kind of food, a great variety, and at a relatively good price. The atmosphere is very friendly and decontracted. We went on a Thursday evening and it was full of people. I would recomend the fish and the puchero. Ty to get there early especually on the weekends.

Jorge Luis Borges used to live around the corner. Great dishes and wine selection. I recommend to try the fabada.

If you're looking for a restaurant with some soul and history, the El Preferido bodegon is definitely worthy of a visit. In this historic corner building---which was once the home of renowned Argentine author Jorge Luis Borges---the restaurant evolved from the original corner store. It is divided into two parts with one side being a deli cafe and the other... More

We went to a sit down restaurant called El Preferido de Palermo immediately adjacent to the small cafe by the same name pictured here in the reviews. We were not at all impressed with the food we were served. We shared a large seafood salad. The seafood was watery, seemed not bad, but certainly not fresh, as if held in... More

We are staying in Buenos Aires for a month and already in our first few days we have lounged about in El Preferido on a couple of occasions. It is a fine spot to relax and watch street life. The service is tranquilo yet the food is great. Try the rabas with a large beer for a fine luncheon snack.... More

The whole setting of a restaurant in an old Italian deli, and its ability to maintain this quality despite the burgeoning Palermo Soho were so charming and we were excited to visit. Perhaps we ordered the wrong dishes (locals seemed to all order 3 things - this pizza/quiche like looking pie, the fried calamari and some type of rib dish)... More

You get what you pay for here. It's a good lunch place, cheap and not touristy. Locals come here for lunch (including police officers). We got 2 tortillas (very filling) and a sparkling water for 90 Ars + tip
