A wonderful last lunch in BA

My wife and I were out strolling in Recoleta on our last day in BA, chanced on Sottovoce from recommendations, and were completely delighted. Probably one of the best restaurant I have ever gone to, and just in Buenos Aires there are quite a few good ones. Best to make a reservation. It was a Saturday afternoon and the place was busy, the class of people was upper class, but the waiters and the host treated everyone the same. Drinks and food came out... More

We dined for lunch, and it was delicious. Attractive bistro atmosphere with excellent service. Waiter presents a small basket with an assortment of their homemade pasta noodles for you to choose with your dish. Pasta was very good. One in our party had a strip steak, and said it was very good. Extensive wine list. Great location in the Recoletta.... More

The most awful experience from a restaurant I dined abroad on holiday. I had a dinner with my fiancé on 30 December 2014. The bill came to 952 ARS and I paid on my credit card. After came back to the UK, I had a credit card statement and found that the restaurant charged me twice for the amount. I... More

Bustling on Monday night, almost all Argentines, a lot of great pasta choices and great salads- all very welcome after 2 weeks in Argentina.

It's easy in Buenos Aires to find good steaks but there are times when as a visitor an alternative can be preferable for a change. Although there are a few steaks on the menu there is plenty of choice with, not surprisingly given the name, a concentration on Italian dishes. The wine list is the same as Fervor and has... More

While traveling in Buenos Aires, this evening dinner was one of those that turned out better for my husband than for me. I possibly ordered the wrong entree. For appetizer we ordered shrimp with polenta. It was tasty but it was a bit on the salty side. We shared this appetizer since the restaurant has huge servings that could be... More

We stopped in on a Sunday evening after walking The Puero Madero area. It was a warm and humid night and we decided to eat inside. We did not have a reservation but the restaurant filled up quickly. We each had a champaign spritzer and it was delicious. Then we split a Caprese Salad which was delicious. We then shared... More

This restaurant was recommended by the concierge at our hotel on the first night we arrived. It was exactly what we needed. Good food, welcoming and very friendly staff, charming atmosphere. The pastas are cooked perfectly Al dente with delicious fresh ingredients. We enjoyed it so much that we returned twice. Each time they welcomed us like old friends. The... More

We had reservations at 8 PM when it opened. We were seated immediately and I was amazed how quickly the place filled up. The service was excellent and so was the food. I had a wonderful pasta dish and my friend had a steak that was comparable to what you would get at a Ruth Christs. We had two bottles... More

Staying in Recoleta

Neighborhood Profile
Recoleta
Characterized by the French-style mansions which are the legacy of its aristocratic past, Recoleta is the true “Paris of the South.” Walking around this neighborhood is an experience like no other in Buenos Aires: its streets are lined with elegant apartment buildings, exclusive boutiques, and former mansions turned into high-end hotels and embassies, which exude an alluring air of sophistication and class. You'll also find a rich cultural scene centered on the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Library, and the Recoleta Cultural Center; as well as some great shopping spots, like the Buenos Aires Design Mall with an artists' fair set up in Plaza Francia every weekend.
