Good and ok

I went there after read the rank of the 50 best restaurants of Latin America. The degustation menu comes with 8 courses. Some of them were amazing and some is ok. The wine paring was just ok...no fancy ones. This restaurant only has degustation menu and is good to make reservation.

OK, some dishes were pretty mindblowing, but others only just OK. At a place like this, you expect every dish to be mindblowing. The premise of the restaurant is that they use unusual ingredients, especially meats, but the only atypical meat on the menu on our particular day was the lama carpaccio dish. It's hard to get excited about things... More

Great food, service and ambience! It was my third time in Buenos Aires and the dinner in the El Baqueano was one of the best meals I ever had in the city!!!

This is an opportunity to try different meals all in one sitting. The food was excellantly prepared. A Little expensive so save the experience for a special occassion.

El Baqueano is an awesome restaurant hidden in San Telmo. Their food is simply amazing, for sure one the best restaurants in the world. No words can define their llama or their rabbit heart, you simply can't miss it. The service is great in spanish or english, always very friendly. The ambient isn't at the same level the food is,... El Baqueano is a small restaurant in San Telmo. The décor is simple but elegant, lights are soft but efficient. The food is wonderfully surprising. The tomato entrée is not only delicious but beautiful (differently from the disappointing tomato entrée at Tegui). The salmon, also delicious, comes with a very smart fried skin that visually resembles pork skin. We had... More

In a quiet street of San Telmo, I, my husband and a couple of friends sat down to the second most extraordinary food experience in Buenos Aires! It is a must visit place for all foodies and such a wellcome! Gabi matches the wines perfectly (if you ask for the harmonized menu), and all becomes the perfect experience!

We stopped by El Baqueano on the last night of our stay in Buenos Aires and were blown away. The chef and sommelier (husband and wife) worked beautifully as a team to serve us a wonderful tasting menu of plates all native to Argentina. We had a set menu so we just went with the flow of what was served... More

I wasn't very impressed with the food served. Asked for the biggest menu which was only 6 or 7 steps and it's based on exotic meat but they came so in disguise that you coudn't really tell which was what. It could all be any ordinary meat. Service was fantastic with a profound explanation of each step and harmonized drinks,... More

Hidden gem downtown San Telmo. Great tasting menu, well thought out wine pairings, exceptionally interesting raw materials (rabbit hearts, carpaccio of lama), good service and a fantastic value. An 8 course tasting menu with wine pairings at ARS 700? Simply unbeatable. Food and wine pairings up to par with several European 1 x Michelin star restaurants.

Staying in San Telmo

Neighborhood Profile
San Telmo
Characterized by cobblestones and narrow streets, San Telmo is defined by the tango, the dance that made Buenos Aires world-famous. Tango is a fusion of many different cultures: a true child of immigration, much like the city itself. Nowadays, it comes alive after dark in the milongas (dance parties) attended by both locals and visitors alike, who dance until the wee hours of the morning. During the day, the antique shops and classic cafés and bars around Plaza Dorrego dominate the scene. The emblematic Bar Plaza Dorrego, with its green awnings, checkered tile floors, and wooden interiors, takes you back in time the moment you step inside. For true porteño traditions, San Telmo is the place to be.
