We had heard of La Cabrera from some guide books and other publications. We were very excited to go and made reservations through our hotel. I must say to their credit they had advised us this was very much s tourist trap and recommended other steak restaurants they felt were better. We chose to go anyway and were very disappointed.... In his book "Down and out in Paris and London" George Orwell wrote that, "sharp knives, of course, are the secret of a successful restaurant". I could not believe how blunt the knives were at La Cabrera. About as sharp as the wrong side of a knife. It ruined my whole experience, which was already tarnished because my friend and... More

This restaurant offers a vivacious atmosphere. The menu is typical of an Argentine steak house. The numerous bite sized sauces and relishes offered were distinctive. The largest size serving of bife de chorizo that we ordered was beautifully cooked, but more than a third of it was a hunk of fat!! Service was attentive.

Definitely a BA must visit from what I could gather...I was told and read, that a reservation was a must, but going to the restaurant solo I was initially told I was out of luck, but they managed to find a spot for me which I definitely appreciated... but definitely a bunch of tourists in there (like myself)...but all there... Firstly, one portion will serve two (unless maybe you are used to American sized portions). I had the chicken and my boyfriend had steak (2 pieces). Both were tasty enough but seriously way too much food. Each came with a potato and with the cover charge for bread and chorizo and blood sausage and the all you could eat salad... More

La Cabrera is highly rated and I think it deserves the hype. The experience was heightened by the incredible service we received from Charly, an older gentleman who graciously guided us through the menu and wine list, suggested smaller portions, and made the experience feel one-of-a-kind. We arrived a little early - just before 8 pm - while they were... More

A busy steak restaurant full of locals and tourists. Not many speak english. Booking is essential and getting through the hostess at the front is a challenge given the seemly chaotic booking system. This restaurant is all about steak - served large with lots of side accompaniments. In summary it was good but not great

Was pretty underwhelmed with this spot. The steak was a high quality cut, they just didn't seem to season it . . . at all. They bring out a ton of toppings to put on your meat, but if I'm paying for a high quality steak I'd actually like to taste the steak and not smoother it with something else.

I have lived in BA for 2 months and many portenos have said this is the best parilla. Maybe for tourists but not for locals. The waiters wear cute outfits and the service is very good. They have tasting trays of different salsas, etc but the food is not great. The provoleta was so salty I couldn't eat it. The... More

I'm Argentino living abroad. Were there with my family for lunch, first if you convert the prices from pesos to the dollar blue, this place is really cheap for any international standard. We didn't go for the business lunch, and made our choices from the full menu, it was hard to decide, anyway, we got their standard assist, we ordered... More
