Almost a second home

Melo has everything you need. An eclectic and classical menu, amiable and professional waiters (probably Roy is the best), and a feeling of "nothing can goo wrong". The worst thing that could happen is that they have run out of "dulce de leche mousse", but then you can always go for a "flan and... read more

This is the second time I have visited the Melo for lunch. Nice ambience, kindly staff, superlative food (not necessarily more steak), unhurried, good value, often frequented by local businessmen. If you are in the area drop by (they are open from around midday).

The service is more than okay, the waiter was very attentive. The prices of the food are very reasonable and the atmosphere cosy. But is this a 'very good' (4 stars) or an average (3 stars) restaurant? The taste of the food made it a 3 stars. The steak I had was okay but not great and the ravioli my... More

Went here on our first night in buenos aires as it was next to our hotel and it was delightful. We had the gnochhi freddy and the filet mignon which keep in mind does not come wrapped in bacon as we do at home. The gnocchi is stuffed with mozzarella, the sauce is a tomato one with bacon and beef... More

This little restaurant was just around the corner from our hotel, and we ate here twice. The food is very good and reasonably priced. We also really enjoyed the atmosphere - it seems to be very popular with locals and starts filling up around 9 pm or so.

Not the best meal we had in Argentina, but the ambiance made up for it. The food was perfectly fine, just nothing super memorable. But the interior of the restaurant is so cozy! Would recommend for a date or a family dinner.

Having had a long day wandering the streets of BA we didn't want to go far from our hotel. This was around the corner and having read, what I perceived to be mixed reviews here, I was somewhat apprehensive on my way to it. At 9.30 (which is quite early for eating in Buenos Aires) the place was relatively full... More

Varied menu, helpful staff, good portions--takeout is great. The pasta with mariscos was better than many.

Excellent little neighborhood parilla in Recoleta. Very fair prices. 6 of us ate meat and 2 bottles of wine and waters each was only around 1300 pesos including the 10% tip (less than 90 USD). 1/2 bife de lomo with ensalada was plenty for me at around 7-8 USD! White tablecloths as well. Nice find!

Staying in Recoleta

Neighborhood Profile
Recoleta
Characterized by the French-style mansions which are the legacy of its aristocratic past, Recoleta is the true “Paris of the South.” Walking around this neighborhood is an experience like no other in Buenos Aires: its streets are lined with elegant apartment buildings, exclusive boutiques, and former mansions turned into high-end hotels and embassies, which exude an alluring air of sophistication and class. You'll also find a rich cultural scene centered on the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Library, and the Recoleta Cultural Center; as well as some great shopping spots, like the Buenos Aires Design Mall with an artists' fair set up in Plaza Francia every weekend.
