Classic BA Style Restaurant

The food was wonderful both the pasta dishes and steaks. The staff was very patient and helpful. We ate there several times during stay.

Upscale dining without the price tag one might expect. I absolutely loved every second from the moment I walked in the door. The salmon teriyaki was delicious! The wait staff attended to such personal service I felt as if I was the only customer they were catering to. This is in a fabulous neighborhood in Recoleta.

As a tourist, I find that a restaurant with a huge local draw is a great sign. Melo is one of those restaurants- we were probably the only tourists in the place when we went for dinner. The ambiance is classy and cozy: exposed brick, white table cloths and high ceilings. It has a fine dining atmosphere and quality with... More

We had 2 salads, 2 steaks and a nice bottle of local red wine for AR$ 647 (US $ 53). Everyone there was a local there except us. We had 2 different steaks (a rib-eye and a filet) and asked for them both to be cooked 'medium rare', what we got was more like medium to medium-well. If I went... More

Great local atmosphere and friendly service. Prices are very reasonable and the portions large. Unfortunately the quality of the food lags just a bit. Reservations are a must.

I stumbled on Melo last night. I had already eaten, so I waited until tonight. It was worth the wait, the food was great, and the prices are UNBELIEVABLY LOW!

Melo is a medium size, or even small Italian restaurant in Recoleta. Service is great, and you can see the waiters greeting the guest by their name, so is it has a familiar atmosphere. We ate Risotto de la Madre and Osobuco Ravioli. Both dishes were delicious, and the price is very reasonable comparing with other restaurants that were not... More

I have eaten at this restaurant perhaps ten times over the past three years. The reason? The food is excellent, the ambience is good and the waiters remember you. The end result is you get good food and good service. It helps to speak Spanish but that is not essential.

Came across this restaurant in a side street off Callao. Lucky I was early as it became obvious it was fully booked, even on a Tuesday night. But the English Menu was promptly offered. It is a joy dining in Buenos Aires where a bottle of excellent wine costs the same as a glass of plonk in London. I chose... More

My husband and I went to,dinner here on a Sunday night. The place was packed with locals. The service was terrible. The food was average as far as I was concerned; however, my husband loved his sweetbreads in a cream sauce. ...soooo rich but yummy....!!!!!! The wines were pretty inexpensive. The waitstaff did not really speak English but they do... More

Staying in Recoleta

Neighborhood Profile
Recoleta
Characterized by the French-style mansions which are the legacy of its aristocratic past, Recoleta is the true “Paris of the South.” Walking around this neighborhood is an experience like no other in Buenos Aires: its streets are lined with elegant apartment buildings, exclusive boutiques, and former mansions turned into high-end hotels and embassies, which exude an alluring air of sophistication and class. You'll also find a rich cultural scene centered on the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Library, and the Recoleta Cultural Center; as well as some great shopping spots, like the Buenos Aires Design Mall with an artists' fair set up in Plaza Francia every weekend.
