What a pleasant surprise, and the price was even better?

I stumbled on Melo last night. I had already eaten, so I waited until tonight. It was worth the wait, the food was great, and the prices are UNBELIEVABLY LOW!

Melo is a medium size, or even small Italian restaurant in Recoleta. Service is great, and you can see the waiters greeting the guest by their name, so is it has a familiar atmosphere. We ate Risotto de la Madre and Osobuco Ravioli. Both dishes were delicious, and the price is very reasonable comparing with other restaurants that were not... More

I have eaten at this restaurant perhaps ten times over the past three years. The reason? The food is excellent, the ambience is good and the waiters remember you. The end result is you get good food and good service. It helps to speak Spanish but that is not essential.

Came across this restaurant in a side street off Callao. Lucky I was early as it became obvious it was fully booked, even on a Tuesday night. But the English Menu was promptly offered. It is a joy dining in Buenos Aires where a bottle of excellent wine costs the same as a glass of plonk in London. I chose... More

My husband and I went to,dinner here on a Sunday night. The place was packed with locals. The service was terrible. The food was average as far as I was concerned; however, my husband loved his sweetbreads in a cream sauce. ...soooo rich but yummy....!!!!!! The wines were pretty inexpensive. The waitstaff did not really speak English but they do... More

We stumbled upon this lovely restaurant while returning to our hotel. The prices were more reasonable than any others around. We arrived around 830 on Sat. night and the place was completely full. We had to wait about a half hour for a table but it was totally worth it. Our waiter was delightful. He did not speak a word... More

We had a great experience here, and found that this was one of the best value restaurants considering the quality of the food, atmosphere and service. We shared a provoleta, which was HUGE (likely intended for more than 2 people) and very good. My husband ordered lomo, which he enjoyed very much. I ordered a pasta dish as I can... More

Found this lovely restaurant on trip advisor in recoleta walking distance from our hotel. The prices were reasonable and the food delicious. The service was friendly despite the language issue. We chose a premium wine which was still reasonable and wonderful. The meat was cooked perfectly. One of us had bife de lomo and another lamb. The papas fritas were... More

This restaurant is one of our favorites, especially at noon. The have excellent beef, pasta and saladas. Waiters ar very professional. But, for some reason, it has started to become a bit more expensive than expected, especially considering the services provided (the walls stop any cel phone wave; wifi is a tragedy, and the toast with cream cheese depend on... I wanted to avoid eating at the typical tourist traps for an Argentinean meal so I searched on Trip Advisor and found Melo. We were not disappointed! (I speak Spanish, so there was no problem.) Our bill for the 2 of us came to $40 USD with tip - it included a bottle of wine, 2 entrees, 2 starters. The... More

Staying in Recoleta

Neighborhood Profile
Recoleta
Characterized by the French-style mansions which are the legacy of its aristocratic past, Recoleta is the true “Paris of the South.” Walking around this neighborhood is an experience like no other in Buenos Aires: its streets are lined with elegant apartment buildings, exclusive boutiques, and former mansions turned into high-end hotels and embassies, which exude an alluring air of sophistication and class. You'll also find a rich cultural scene centered on the National Museum of Fine Arts, the National Library, and the Recoleta Cultural Center; as well as some great shopping spots, like the Buenos Aires Design Mall with an artists' fair set up in Plaza Francia every weekend.
